Barra is a huge neighborhood, full of huge condos, with great infrastructure, so the beach itself is not a big thing for people who live around here, its less crowded than Ipanema for instance. The water is usually more beautiful and if you drive to Recreio, there is another beach called Reserva, where you're gonna have much more privacy. I... More

Copacabana and Ipanema are nice beaches. Barra is even better, but a bit more far out. However, best are private beaches even more to the West, Grumari, Prainha and depending on which island you go at Costa Verde

If you already spent the day at Ipanema/Cobapabana beach and you are looking for a less noisy or tourists-crowded beach, try starting at Barra Beach. Keep in mind that Praia do Pepê could be the more noisy at this area but still you could pay it a visit and check. "Prainha" is another option still more away from Zona Sul.

I've been going to the beach at Barra de Tijuca for years before there were any skyscrapers on Barra de Tijuca. In the old days the sand was crystal clean and white and went for mies as far as the eye could see.Often there was not a soul to be seen. However, the water was always dangerous, rip tides and... Choose the Pepe location and enjoy one of the best beaches in Rio. Beautifull people, safer, and is also good for who likes kite surfing.

Is the beach you should visit, not so famous like copacabana, but better, less people try to sell something for you. the ocean is great vieaew amazing, especially in the sunrise and the melt down.

If you are looking for a place where you can have a more quite beach, far from the busy south zone it can be a good option. Barra has a beautiful and very expense beach. There are good spots around Posto 5 or 6 where it's not so crowded. But Postos 2-3 can be a could option if you want... More

Lovely beach, a little narrow, but felt very safe. Lots of nearby eateries and drinks places. We had the luxury of a private section of the beach with plenty of beds and shade. You WILL need shade and bug spray. The sea is surprisingly warm for this time of year.

We really enjoyed Barra Beach with it's nice long esplanade for walking. The beach was clean and safe, It was very quiet when we were there. Good little bars and restaurants all the way along. Good place for families
