Vasco games at Sao Januario are the best for atmosphere currently in Rio. Easily accessibly by metro to Triagem and the main stand has the most baeutiful facade of any sports arena.

Sao Januário is a must-see experience for football lovers worldwide. The stadium is older, and located within a favela, but the sizeable security and police presence should dissuade any concerns you may have. Washrooms are easily accessible, but alcohol (illegal in most Brazilian stadiums) is only available in the delegate's (VIP) area located across the pitch from the visitor section.... More

A great experience. Went With a tour group cost about £35 collected at hotel and left back there. Match ticket ( basic) included. Very very safe and it was a local Derby Vasco v Botafogo. Could move around the ground no problem. Alcohol freely available inside the ground no abuses. Police on the ground made you feel secure. Don't miss... More

Despite is located in a bad neighborhood this is a must-see point when visiting Rio de Janeiro. It's not only a Football (soccer) Stadium from the begging of the last century, it's a place charged of history!!!!! All the brazilian work legislation was annouced here. The honor tribune is great!!! If you don't know, others football clubs tried to make... More

The stadium is the home of Vasco, Rio's 2nd largest football team (the 1st id Flamengo) and founded by Portuguese descendants. But the stadium itself is ugly, unwelcoming and not suitable for tourists. Thus, the neighborhood is far from the touristic zone fo the city, difficult to arrive and find, and quite dangerous. To visit a football stadium, choose Maracanã.

There's a big room with trophies, and all the fans can take photos. There's a restaurant, the food is good. But it's too hot inside the room. The sidewalk outside it's terrible, it's broken. And there's a store to buy everything of the club.

It's simple, this is one of the great classic temples of soccer. Spain's, Italy and Argentina's National Teams said so. All negative reviews have a reason: the're writen by soccer adversaries of Vasco da Gama, simply because they don't have a stadium of they're own. Pure jellousy. São Januário is great, classic, the best place to be if you want... More

The only soccer club in Rio that has its own stadium, big enough for a first division soccer match. The look from outside is not the best but inside it is nice and neat!!! It holds around 20.000 but it will be renovated and enlarged for the olympics
