If you are planning to go to the beach but forgot to bring your Brazillian Bikini, this is a place for it. The 2 pieces (mix and match) cost around R50, while the popular beach towel can be around R25!! super cheap compare to those selling in store near the beach.

this is a place in the downtown of rio that you can buy really cheap things and wholesale also, you may found here all the things that you see in the fancy beaches of rio, but half of the price, you have to bring cash because there are just a few stores that accept credit cards, also sunscreen and water... Nice market area, soo many shops selling a lot of things you never knew you wanted! Be aware and do take an extra look before you buy anything. That tshirt may be half price in the next store.

This is a great area for market shopping! We had checked out other markets and were very disappointed. Here you can get almost anything. At great prices we brought some cool gifts to take home to family and friends, including bags, t-shirts, hats, board shorts, souvenirs and phone charger/adaptor for ourselves. The only downside of shopping in an area such... More

You find many stores selling different products but if you're looking for quality, this place isn't good. Maybe, you find something with quality, but its very hard.

We loved going here today. We spent about an hour here getting souvineers and other presents for family . I would reccomend buying everythng here instead of buying your stuff at copacabanna or any othètourist traps. The exact same things were about 1/3rd the price!

Saara is a popular shopping in downtown Rio, selling tons of stuff, including all the Chinese trash kind of thing, however you may find something interesting and nice souvenirs for a good price.

This is the place to go to find cheap stuff, there are many different stores with party stuff (decorations, costumes, materials, etc.), cheap souvenirs, clothes shops (not very high quality), and many other different ones with housewares. Do not expect excellent quality, there's tons of "made in china" crap as well! It's always interesting to walk around and find stuff,... More

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Downtown Rio is the place where this city was born. With modern skyscrapers sharing space with historical buildings and landmarks, this neighbourhood is living proof that the old and the new can live together harmoniously. As you would expect, downtown is where all major companies house their offices. However, the region isn’t restricted to businesses. Gems such like the “Paço Imperial,” which is a cultural centre that used to serve as a residence for governors of Brazil, can be found here. Pedra do Sal, a Monday night street party, is also in this neighbourhood. This landmark is the birthplace of samba and is famous for its “roda de sambas” (“dance circles”). Stop in for one and get closer to discovering where Brazilian happiness comes from.
