We had a wonderful time exploring the streets and alleys of the Rochina community with resident Jucara as our guide for the day. Both Jucara and Zezinho welcomed us into their homes. This could not have been a more authentic and warming experience for us...More

We just finished the 4+ hour tour with Zezinho and it was brilliant! The pace was very relaxed and we were encouraged to ask questions; I feel like we got a great insight into favela life. We had been keen to find a tour that...More

Zezinho is an amazing guide! As a favela resident (who seems to know every one of Rocinha's 300,000 locals), he generously shares the real Rocinha with you. The walking tour traverses tiny laneways from top to bottom as you experience the heart and soul of...More

I recommend this at the start of your visit to Rio. You will see the city so differently and I think it’s really important to understand the favelas – it’s not all doom and gloom. I emailed Zezinho from NZ and he replied really fast...More

My girlfriend and I had a fantastic tour. We arranged last minute with Zezinho and he was able to accommodate us without problem. Our guide Freddy, who lives in the favela, was superb. He took us off the main streets that typical tours stick to...More

We joined a 4 hour tour with an English speaking guide (actually a Dutch guy who has lived in the Favela for several years). We had lots of opportunity to ask questions and discuss the reality of life in a favela and the political/social issues...More

I think you need to search for Favela Tours in Rio. There are many companies that serve different favelas. All I can say is do your research. Most are sitting in a bus or jeep, not as many walking tours. Find walking tours... More
