I loved this place, it is very chill, comfy, and quiet. It is mostly people who are very laid back, there is no phone signal there, and the internet connection is not one of the best. This is a place for you to lay back and enjoy life as it comes to you. Many camping areas, some chalés, and places to eat. If you are looking for things to do, maybe this beach is not for you. If you want to relax with nature around you, this is the place!

What a shame about the inconsistency. We’d night we had coffee at 9 . Tonight we are told last orders was 9.15 but the coffee machine is closed. Is it only the snowflake generation that doesn’t have coffee after a meal?

When you are visiting Paraty, Sono beach is a must visit!

How to get there?
- Take the bus to Villa Oratoria from the Paraty Busstation. See the times in the photo’s I have included.
- The bus takes about 45 minutes to get you to the end stop Villa Oratoria. This is where you get off the bus.
- From there you follow the signs up the hill to the trail. At the beginning of the trail you’ll see a sign saying ‘Reserva Ecológica Estadual da Juatinga’.
- The trail is 3,2km long and it take 1-1,5 hour to walk to the beach.

At the beach, we were almost alone and it was the most tropical experience. Really nice water, endless beach. There were a lot of restaurants, not all of them open at this time of year though. We had the best squid/cuttlefish at one of the restaurants; definitely try some seafood!

I went on hotel trip here. Comfortable coach ok time connections to boat efficiently handle. Fast boat out to a cool shallow Caribbean Sea swimming area, then onto Sonoa island. A lovely beach with good and drink include (cocktails and beer soft drinks) The beach is like your hotel beach so no big deal there. Not sure what the big deal is. Loads of trip boats combining and going. But an enjoyable trip away from hotel stuff.? Perfect if you like Booze Cruise it was a fun day.

Accessible by taxiboat from the Laranjeiras gated community or by hiking a relatively easy trail (recommended) that winds through the Atlantic Rain Forrest. The whole area is within a nature reserve.
The beach never gets very full, tends to have calm waters, and has a few simple bars and restaurants along it. There are also a few options for spending the night.
For the more adventurous, plan a hike to Ponta Negra and from there to the Saco Bravo waterfall, passing by several desolate and picturesque beaches and waterfalls along the way.

Very famous among students, Sono is an awesome place to enjoy the nature. There is a small village with bars, restaurants, lodges and campings.

If there’s a place in Brazil that has captivated me in every single aspect, I reckon that place is Praia do sono, located in the state of Rio de Janeiro, near the cities of Paraty and Trindade.

Praia do sono is a secluded beach, far from all commodities of a popular tourist target, as most of the beaches in the area are.
If you’re looking for classy comforts as five-star hotels, international cuisine restaurants and the hustle and bustle of the bars and pubs of a coastal city, Praia do sono is definitely not for you. Peace, quiet, nature and an unbelievable sense of being far from civilization are some of the traits that this place has to offer.

The beach is worth every effort to get to it, and so the first obstacle you will have to tackle is the difficult reach. There are only two ways to access the beach, either taking a boat that will cost you around 40 reais per person and 20 minutes, or facing a tree-surrounded trail for about one hour and 30 minutes, the latter quite more rewarding and enjoyable, as you will walk quietly through the rainforest accompanied by the sound of birds, insects and sea water as it hits the rocks. Such trail ends with a stair walk, from where you can admire the awaited prize of the on-foot adventure that’s come to an end.

The place’s most common accommodations are camping tents allocated in spaces rented by locals with the same dynamics as a hotel rents you a room. Such places commonly offer basically equipped bathrooms, kitchen, laundry and rustic restaurants and bars. You can either bring your own tent or rent one at the place, the fee waves around 50 reais per day.

Besides the camping and rustic rooms sites, the nearly 2km long beach hosts a small school, a church and a small and slightly overpriced mini-market; there is no pier or port, as the embarkation is done directly on the sand, which means there’s reduced water pollution.

The sun soaked sand separates the warm waters from the trees and offers a perfect spot for beachsports, sunbathing and picnicking. Short and shallow waves embrace the water lovers that can expect nothing less than relaxation submerged in the crystal clear liquid.

Stargazing at night is definitely one of the highlights of the adventure, as the lights are shut down at around 11 pm, leaving the shore illuminated by nothing but the stars and moon, if out.

Praia do sono is also the first step to other beaches and sights of equal paradisiac and natural relevance, such as Jacarézinho waterfall, Ponta negra beach, and Saco Bravo waterfall, a mesmerizing place where a river meets the sea.
In our modern days, days of comfort, days of fully booked hotels and hard to find reservations, places like these bring us closer to nature, to the real thing, places where we can sit down and savour what our planet has for us, untrampled, untouched, as clean and natural as nature can be.

Its far from Paraty, but worth every effort. If you have a car, drive to Condominio das Laranjeiras, park at Vila Oratório and hike 3km to this stunning amazing beach! There are plenty of kiosks for lunch, drinks and you can always get a boat back instead of hiking back.

You can reach this beach by boat or by foot. Try walking, to enjoy a nice forest and great views. It is not that hard. Great place to swim and plenty of shade to escape from the sun. Halfway the beach there is a nice restaurant called Encontro de Artes, that serves a good basic meal.
