Just go for a Walk!

There are tons of well marked jungle trails. Beautiful, peaceful, and relatively easy terrain. I could've hiked for days and found little beaches and waterfalls throughout.

You can walk and cycle for days on Ilha Grande. There are no cars riding here and the forest is unspoiled with a great amount of birds. You can hear the howler monkeys everywhere.

Beautiful way to get some exercise and see the island before relaxing on the beach. Main paths are well marked and fairly well maintained. The trails are quite steep and are slippery after rain. If you pay attention you may see small monkeys along the power lines which often follow the trails.

A fairly easy way to experience tropical forest is to hike the trails connecting Abraao and the waterfall at Feiticiera beach. You can swim in the pools at the fall and we even saw monkeys! Afterwards just hike down the hill to Feiticiera beach and cool down in the ocean. If you're not up for the walk back, there's boat... More

I enjoyed the hikes in the forest during my stay on the island. You can spot easily monkey and hummingbirds and, if you cannot see them, for sure you can hear the monkeys screaming. The trails are quite clean so even if hiking alone you should not get lost, just wear proper shoes because it can get slippery.

There are some 16 walking trails through the atlantic rainforest on the island, some simple, some very difficult. Make sure you are well prepared before you start one. You can reach small beaches that else can only be reached by boat. Beware that paths can be very slippery after rain! Several trails pass one or two beaches and often it... More

This is a lovely forest with an old prison, still functioning aqueduct, swimming hole and a waterfall. The trails are a bit unkept and you must take care. It's a beautiful walk through the jungle growth, birds and monkeys are about.
