The promise was attractive with a corresponding price of 500 RS + 5% for credit card payment (around 100€ per person):

1 day with a tour of the island, in a "16-seater boat with a maximum of 8 passengers", starting at the Blue Lagoon, in the kingdom of turtles, arriving before the hordes of boats.

In fact, when we arrive at the lagoon, with 2 boats each with 8 passengers on board + the pilot + William on our boat, (without really any remaining space...) no turtles...!?
In response to our astonishment, William tells you that you have to swim about 200 meters and go around an islet....Result: 1 crossed turtle,
but going back in the other direction by boat... it's nature perhaps, but it got off to a bad start given William's pitch on these turtles (and the Tf1 report that he sent you on this lagoon to sell you the excursion...!)

Then, visit an uninteresting cemetery, then stop for a good hour on a crowded beach in the middle of blaring loud music - and whose boat then left this beach at the same time as us, dumping its waste water... charming !

Afterwards, stop for lunch in a fairly mediocre and expensive beach restaurant, which was advertised as "charming at the home of a fisherman friend..."; icing on the cake, William announces that the desserts - at extra cost - are "killer" and in short it is extremely sweet and really not great for the taste of the 6 of us...

Thereafter, a fairly arduous and steep 45-minute walk to see a waterfall; pretty but of no particular interest.

The finale consisted of a bit of snorkelling with corals announced as "magnificent" and in fact, really nothing terrible to everyone's taste.

The icing on the cake, William then lets the second boat in the group of 16 that he was "guiding" leave without even a goodbye, then gets dropped off at the port with our boat, then the pilot takes us back a little further at our pousada where he had picked us up in the morning.
Never seen this: a guide who leaves before his clients...
But the pinnacle must have been for the 2 other young women who were on our boat who were asked for an additional 600 RS to take them back to their pousada about 20 minutes away by boat....

In short, an "excursion" not recommended because it is expensive and totally out of step with the "promise" that William makes you when meeting him and which he confirms to you on a Whatsapp message + the famous Tf1 report where he appears.

Negotiating this boat trip with sailors from the port is very likely much cheaper and also allows you to have freedom of times and places, to stroll around this truly magnificent island.

Lagoa Azul (Blue Lagoon) is that kind of place that once you go, you’ll never forget! Warm deep blue water, clean and flat sea where you can enjoy swimming, scuba-diving, snorkeling or simply buoying! Beeing accessible only by boat, it is almost never crowded, which makes it the perfect beach to relax and enjoy nature! Boats have to be anchored along the coast, respecting the Coast Guard recommendations and rules in order to avoid accidents. It is a safe place to take kids, as long as they know how to swim. It is not proper for young kids. There is no sand, just rocks so, basicaly, people stay on the boat decks having drinks, chatting and jumping into the amazing sea!

A very beautiful view. I recommend taking the trip by boat and not by schooner. I took the schooner trip and it doesn't go as much into the blue-green parts of the lagoon. The boats go further inland, where it appears to be much more beautiful. I highly recommend the tour!

It is an incredible place, where you can see all kind of inhabitants of the sea. But you should do this tour with a local with a fast boat. The locals are doing some kind of ecological tourism and know everything very well. They have an eye for Try to avoid the big sailing ships. Instead of this ask for Betinho or Umberto, who is the kind of local who makes lagos Azul to an unforgettable experience.

Speachless. A MUST do tour. Some snorkeling and sun bathing. Some tours even include lunch. Nice boat and short ride so no need to worry of getting sea sick.

Beautiful little paradise, where the water is deep and crystal clear and there are many types of fish you can hand feed.

I'm not surprised the company itself isn't listed on Trip Advisor, as I can imagine it would be all terrible reviews - came across few on various other listings!
"The Ilha Grande Tour" was recommended to us by our hotel, so we thought it would be better than other similar tours advertised at half the price - we were extremely wrong!
Even though we booked it as an English tour - our tour guide completely ignored the fact that he had 3 english passengers on the bus, and throughout continued speaking portugese and spanish, every so often throwing an english sentence. We also thought that since it's called Ilha Grande tour, we would actually get to the island and have some time to walk around. Instead we got dropped off at one of the completely deserted beaches of the island and had 30mins to stay there - couldn't go inland as it was just bushes, and as it was a rather overcast day we didn't fancy staying 30mins in the water
The boat was completely overcrowded and whilst the band is trying to keep you entertained, we already were in not a great mood. Nobody on the boat speaks english, so when the photographers walked around asking if anyone wanted underwater photos, and we asked them if they spoke english they just run away, never to return. Our guide was nowhere to be found to help translating. If you want snorkelling masks, you will need to pay for those extra, and again when we had a problem with one of ours, we had to try and explain with sign language what was wrong, because there was no one who could help us with english.
The food was okay, though I wouldn't expect much from a boat. Drinks you need to pay extra for, but they are decently prized.
The only time our tour guide came up to us, was when we needed to settle the bill, and he was very annoyed that we didn't leave the full 10% service charge - what for?!
Considering the tour was 280 RS, which is very expansive in comparison to other tours, it was an absolute waste of money, and our worst tour experience in Brazil.

With clear water, great spot for snorkeling. We could see amazing fishes, reefs, see turtles... we asked for a boat taxi and stayed there for around an hour. Don't miss it!
