These botanical gardens are filled with the greenery of one of the largest remnants of the Mata Atlântica, but they lack the flowers and other flora found in such gardens elsewhere. The staff, however, is knowledgeable, and they give you a good walking tour. Just be sure to wear long pants, socks, and shoes that cover your toes as they... More

An absolutely wonderful experience. A forest teeming with wildlife in the middle of the city of Joao Pessoa, which, like Brazil itself, struggles with environmental problems. We had an amazing guide who took us through one one of the forest's many paths, pointing out interesting natural phenomenon. His English was excellent. Unfortunately I didn't encounter any monkeys, sloths or pythons,... More

Important: you have to wear long pants, otherwise they won't let you go because of the insects! Don't go there before calling to make sure the guide is there. I went at 10:30 a Monday in July and the only people there were military guards. They gave me this number and told me to call or come back in the... More

We spent a lovely hour being guided along the trail into the jungle. The guide had excellent English and was extremely knowledgable about the flora and fauna of the area. The walk itself wasn't overly strenuous and we got to see some beautiful scenery and plantlife. The animals were shy on our visit but we did get to see a... More

The overall experience was fantastic. Wandering through the pathways of ancient rain forest is unbelievable with birds, plants and animals to look out for. I found ground growing orchids right through to seeing a truly wild sloth up the tree where the vanilla is growing. We found the visitor centre very interesting. OK, so you can't walk on your own... The natural beauty is inversely proportional to the service offered( is there a service offered?) The place is a botanical garden and a water distribution center!?! You never know who are the guides or the government workers who work there in the water board!
