Beautiful structure completely renovated! A great place to see a bit of the architecture and learn from the early 20 century culture from the north of Brazil!
Worth the visit!

Interesting architecture and history. Building itself is falling into a little bit of disrepair - small trees growing out of cracks in the walls.

We walked 500 m southwest from our Hotel Le Massilia to the Republic Square, site of three prominent Neoclassic buildings; the tan Teatro Experimental Waldemar Henrique, the red Art Science Institute and this 1878 Teatro da Paz. After paying 3 BRL for seniors, we waited for the next hourly tour to start.
Fortunately it was conducted by an eager bilingual guide who tailored his speech between Portuguese and English. Especially interesting were the details concerning ventilation, the addition of AC in the 70'S, and the ceiling paintings throughout.

Possibly the most impressive building in Belem. Unfortunately we could not get inside it when we visited. Still worth seeing the outside. We had a stop here as part of a tour from our cruise ship.

The Theater of the Peace is a well-preserved neoclassical building built in the late part of the 19th Century. It’s inside has beautiful paintings on the ceiling. Acoustic is great. A must while visiting Belém in Brazil.

Thanks for the very informative tour. Max gave us all kinds of info about the Theatre and about the area of Belém and Brazilian history. Beautiful facility and very inexpensive to visit.

The Opera House is a beautiful building surrounded by parks in the busiest area of Belem . We unfortunately could not attend the free tour which was quite a disappointment !

We went on a Wednesday morning for a free tour, and ended up also getting free tickets to that night's show. The tour was wonderful, the tour guide spoke some English and had a sheet with the tour information in English. It's a beautiful theater with a friendly and informative tour guide. I would recommend this to any visitor.

This Opera House is bigger than the one in Manaus we visited earlier in the week. As it was built earlier and it is bigger, this possibly explains why the one in Manaus has a dome, as that is a feature that this one lacks. Also this one has been given an overhaul to make it look more impressive. While we got a guided tour we could even attend a rehearsal of the symphonic orchestra in town.

Oi, qual é o melhor lugar para assistir um espetáculo no Theatro da Paz?
Maria do Carmo M
Belo Horizonte, MG44 contributions
Oi Aldanerys,
a varanda ou a plateia são os melhores lugares. O teatro é lindíssimo e penso que qualquer lugar é legal, mas eu não ficaria no "Paraíso" (perto do céu).
