This is the local government (Federal District) buildings area. Buriti is the name of a kind of palm tree of the Cerrado (Brazilian Savanah) and there is one in the middle of the square.

This is a very large square on which the Buriti Palace and some other governmental buildings are situated. It has a larg water pond with fountains (which never work), and some flower beds. There are a number of stone benches, which are never used for they are straight in the hot sun with no shades near them.
