About
The Temple of Good Will (TGW) is an ecumenical monument located in Brazil's capital. It was conceived and built by Jose de Paiva Netto, President of the Legion of Good Will (LBV), who inaugurated it in October 1989. Every year it receives more than one million pilgrims, making it the most visited place in the city, according to official data from the State Secretariat of Tourism of the Federal District (SETUR). Acclaimed by the people as one of the Seven Wonders of Brasilia, the TGW is on the official list of monuments for tourists to visit during the 2014 FIFA World Cup. It is part of the Legion of Good Will's Ecumenical Complex, together with the World Parliament of Ecumenical Fraternity, the LBV's ParlaMundi. Known as the Temple of Peace, it is a mystical and spiritual icon. Its doors are open day and night to serve the needs of its visitors searching for a place to pray or meditate freely, according to their beliefs.

This place is open for 24 hours to start with. There were 3 staff members who welcomed me at the entrance early in the morning and one lady explained in English so that I can make the best of my time and visit.
When you go through the labyrinth, at the end you are standing under the crystal. You can sit on the chairs on both side before or after. I was surprised that there were service as well. This is the only time when you hear something, the rest in silence.
Very peaceful and unique experience.

We were thrilled to find the Temple of Good Will (TGW) in the capital of Brazil, Brasilia. The pyramid shaped building has a labyrinth on the lower level inside - set up to walk while holding intentions for peace, with a sign in book, energized water to sip, and a place to write and put your prayer requests to be held in this field. This was what drew us originally as we enjoy the balancing and connected energies of labyrinths in various places around the world.
We were impressed at all the extensive displays of contributions from many countries around the world including a section of Egyptian statues. Pictures and acknowledgement of many peacemakers from hundreds of years of Earth's history decorate the walls, and there are many displays and contributions from many countries. It is quite inspiring and touching - and we felt worth the visit.
We learned there that Jose de Paiva Netto, who developed and opened the Temple in October 1989, is also an extensive author. We have yet to check out his writing. We learned while in Brazil there are many interesting authors and individuals who helped cultivate open minded global views.
NOTE: The Temple of Good Will is open 24 hrs. Their dress code includes being modest and knees covered. For those who show up in shorts they have aprons that can be worn.

What could be wrong with a temple of good will? The group didn't seem to preach enmity to other religions, as far as I can tell. In its Hall of great souls you'll see all kinds of people listed from Pelé to Jesus. I couldn't find Martha Stewart but did find Tom Jobim.
The group, best as I can tell, seems to preach the apocalypse, while also providing a hall dedicated to Egyptian rituals. I have no idea what they the late founder expounded beyond this, and no one whom I asked wanted to tell me.
Anyway, given the foul and hateful religious climate we live in, one could do worse.

The Templo da Boa Vontade is without a doubt one of the main attractions in Brasilia. The shape of the Temple is something that at least our group of people haven't seen before. The overall experience that the Template provide is unique as well.

I had the privilege of being invited to do a ceremony in the last day of the last century. On this day I planted the Tree of Peace. It was a three day experience where elders from around the world attended. I also learned of the Museum that is attached to the main Temple. This museum held so many stories that connected the energy of the Americas to the energy of Egypt and the pyramids there. This summary can not do justice to the experience. Inside the pyramid also is a unique labyrinth that accelerates one spiritual experience.

This is a space cadet type religion. It is about the feeling(what ever that is). I have had a more religious feeling walking through the Sun Gate at Machu Picchu. It is however part of having been to Brasilia the capital of the new millennia etc etc. Go, marvel, check the box and move ON. I am not saying that it isn't fun and interesting except that I am not a believer and as a non believer I would rather be at the sistine chapel where there is spectacular art. Ain't no art here. Check the box and move on.

Loved this place so much I went back at night - yes it is open 24 hours. Calming, open, with a fantastic spiral walk in the centre that takes you to a spot looking up at the giant crystal in the roof. The Egyptian room is also amazing to meditate. The temple is supposedly ecumenical, but there is a clear Christian/Jesus slant which may disappoint some.

For believers or not quite so, sitll a good attraction that can make you stop and feel the good will, still nowadays. A good break, even if you don't want to get into the more mystical or practical works for the "Good Will". It's lost most of it's sharm after latter restaurations, but one can still breath the atmosphere. No big thing, but still worth a visit.
