I was in Vitória for only a couple of days on my travels through Brazil. I booked a tour guide, and one of the places she brought me to was here. We came on a Sunday, and there were open-air religious services going on, with hundreds of people attending. However, I was here for the views, and wow! If you're only in Vitória or Vila Velha for a short time, and you only visit one place, it should be here! It's R$6 entrance fee includes mini-bus transport to the top, which I strongly recommend as it's about a 2km hike up to the top on a very steep, cobbled road. There are also toilet facilities and a café available at the top.

Want to take a picture from the best view of Vitoria, this is the place! I loved coming here every Sunday morning to get my morning exercise up the steps to the convent, it's the best way to get that beach body back. At the top of the convent I attended the mass there and it was crowded, but at least I got to enjoy the view while listening to the homily. For the non-spiritual, this place for taking pictures of both the city of Vitoria and Villa Velha, the best views are here, and as I've said this is the best place to get a good cardio workout. They also have a mini museum for you to check out to see the history of the convent. For those who need accessibility assistance, they do offer a transport which is about $3,50 R. The convent is about a 5 minute drive from the city and 15 minutes from the airport. Definitely a must visit place if you visit the city.

A beautiful sanctuary on the top of the hill. It is a bit walk uphill. You will find a few shops at the bottom. There is a church on the top and a souvenir shop, and a restaurant. And a breathtaking view for Vila Velha and Vitoria. Highly recommended!

In an area with great views this maybe the best. Also the story of the building make it a must do. I am not a religious person but you will feel something when there.

One of the oldest buildings in Brazil. You can notice the detailed wood and ceramic work from almost 500 years ago. From the top you get the best view of Vitoria and Vila Velha city.

You can go by walking or take a van to arrive on the top of the hill.
You can visit inside and learn about the history.
It has also a very impressive view of Vila Velha and Vitoria.

Had a day off to spend in Vitoria, a friend recommended I see the view from the convent. It’s a location that is seen from almost any point on the coast line of Vitoria and draws your attention, so I decided to cross the bridge and have a look. The Uber ride took me to the entrance to the complex, I had to pay admission of 5 Real. To reach the convent you have to walk up hill for about 15 minutes, 20 if your lazy, it’s not very difficult but it does get you running a sweat. Since the trail is brick road inside the forest you do get a car passing you by every few moments, and since its surrounded by forest there is some wildlife, I actually stopped for a moment to catch my breath and suddenly saw that there was a snake on the sidewalk. On the flip side I also a cute monkey when I cam out of the convent, so it evens out I guess. Once I got to the top the view of the city (either Vitoria or Velia) is really breathtaking. You have some good spots to catch the view but the convent itself also offers some excellent views not to mention that it’s special all by itself. I really think it was worth the trip (the way down is easier, and I’m pretty sure if I spoke some Portuguese I might have understood how you can get the shuttle bus up and down).

That's a "must do" when visiting Vitória/Vila Velha.
The Convent sits on the top of the hill, offering great views of both Vitória and Vila Velha.
There is a cobblestone road to take you up by car, with limited parking space, also, an ongoing paid shuttle service running up and down the hill. Though the natural beauty and serenity of the Atlantic Rainforest is a blessing to appreciate when climbing up on foot by either the cobblestone road, or the original trail used by the Jesuits. That might be a bit of a workout for some, but it just adds to the experience and bliss once you reach the top and marvel at the views. Inevitably, there are steps to get to the building itself, and marvel some more at the the Baroque artwork and learn about local history. Also, masses are held several times a day. This is an important and beautiful landmark that can be missed!
