The central place where there’s colourful buildings that are shops or restaurants, sunset is beautiful here, kids playing football and the iconic but simple church. This place is so peaceful and relaxing.

The "quadrado" is just a small place with colorful little houses and an old church in the end. It is cute though but that's pretty much it. The view behind the church is nice and there are some restaurants and shops around but be prepared to spend a lot of money if you decide to eat or shop there. There is a woman selling rings near the church, be careful. Her rings are very expensive and if you don't buy anything she suggests that you just went there to steal something from her. She said this about a couple girls who were there before me and that made me buy a R$40 ring which I really regret by now...

Amazing shops and restaurants... live bossa nova every single night at almost every establishment!

We have truly enjoyed going for walks each night after dinner to see the music and enjoy the warm breeze

The Quadrado is the square at the heart of the historic centre of Trancoso. The energy you feel when you are there is indescribable.
We were told by the manager at our hostel that years ago, this was where chamans from all the tribes in the area would get together for festivities and rituals and that their energy still remains and can be felt.
Personally, I felt peace like I have never felt before. Highly recommended for anyone who believes in the power of positive energy.

This place is so special. The quad has wild horses grazing, dogs and children playing with the most beautiful white church at the top of the cliff overlooking the sea. As I said in my title.... it's magical.

Trancoso benefits from a label of being “too slow”. For any one who knows the more popular spots in Bahia (and most of Brazil's northeastern beaches), being considered “slow” means: less crowds, cleaner, unspoilt beaches, no loud music till 3am, and the opportunity to enjoy a small piece of land that seems to be unconcerned with the passage of time.

That small piece of land is the Quadrado - the square that is the center of life in Trancoso. It starts with a little white church, one of the oldest in Brazil. It is fair to say that the Portuguese man (and the natives probably) who built the church 500 years ago would not find the place that different.

The Quadrado has no traffic and no public lights, and when I visited (after carnival), no activity at all. Just a handfull of good restaurants, and small shops. During the day the views behind the church will make your camera happy. It is a high plateau where you can see most of the coastline.

You will not regret visiting Trancoso and spending your nights in the Quadrado, doing nothing and watching the skies.

This area proves that you can have a surfer beach vibe without having to be near the beach. Very clean, very safe, with a laid-back, chill atmosphere that people of all ages will enjoy. Highly recommended.

This is a lovely square surrounded by colorful historic-chic houses, shops, restaurants, cafes, and hotels... If you can, go to see the sun (or the full moon) rising behind the church.

Quadrado is the "central square" of Trancoso village. Tiny colonial little houses, all of them transformed into restaurants, shops and small hotels, are the flanks of a promenade that leads to a small sixteenth century church and an astounding panorama of Trancoso beaches.
