Close to Barra Beach on one end you will find the hill (or "morro") where this monument in honor of Jesus the Saviour sits overlooking Salvador and the sea.
Nice park very well taken care of. Also a very good spot for pictures of both Barra and Ondina beaches.

At the top of a hill facing the Atlantic Ocean, you will find a "Monument to Jesus - The Savior". In a city named "Salvador", in honor of Our Lord Jesus Christ - The Savior, having a monument in his praise seems, more than touching, necessary. The image - that is 7m high including the base - was sculpted by acclaimed Italian artist Pasquale de Chirico and was inaugurated in 1920, eleven years before Rio de Janeiro's iconic monument to "Christ the Redeemer". This hill, known as "Morro do Cristo", was completely renovated in 2018 by the city's municipality, being transformed into one of the most visited areas in Salvador. With beautifully manicured lawns, soft ladders, clean and safe atmosphere, the monument offers lovely views of Salvador and its beaches. Moments of peace, self-reflection and ... romance. Just unmissable! Enjoy!

This isn't somewhere that I would spend a lot of time, but if you're in the area, it's definitely worth going to check out.

It's just another place to see the ocean and the sunset.
View from the lighthouse is better though.
If you're passing by you might enjoy the stay but don't go there just for the Statue.

A nice view of the sunset. But a life size statue! The sunset at the lighthouse is better. But bring a beer or a snack and you will be perfectly happy.

The view from here is nice over the nearby beach, but it's not that impressive. OK if you're in the area.

Just a place to go and relax and enjoy the view. You can be bothered by some of the locals there. The view of the sea and of the city coast line is good.

Salvador does not a have a big rist statute like Rio de Janeiro but this location in Barra waterfront has beautiful sunset views

No charge
Do not let anyone guide you down to beach to see turtles --- there are none
It's a scam
