Mercado Modelo is an arts and crafts market, very nice and authentic. Just... It doesn't matter how creative the item you found is, keep looking around the market. Specially, go to the second floor. Chances are you'll find it somewhere else, maybe even much cheaper....More

After you get thru browsing the great stalls, the restaurant in the second floor has the best mocqueca (seafood stew). Generous portions and dining in the patio, overlooking the sea.

A very good market. You can find souvenirs, clothes and many stuff at very reasonable prices. There are too restaurants at the top floor.

This is an extremely touristy market - all they sell is souvenirs for tourists. Nothing authentic to see or buy here.

We just walked through it and there were lots of small shops selling things you can buy everywhere; magnets, summer scarfs, football shirts, some "local" art works. It's quite colourful so nice to walk through, but in an hour (included looking at some shops) you've...More

Beware of the restaurants in ground floor They will overcharge simple food. It will cost 3 to 4 times more than normal. Brazil tip is 10%. They charge you with 20%, and the service is awful. It's a petty Salvador city let this happens in...More
