This Beach is a wonderful point to enjoy the sunset, have a beer and taste the local fritters acarajé, a cake similar to a falafel, made of black eye peas, shrimp and nuts . Every day is a different scene and sky collors. An additional feature is the statue of the couple Zélia and Jorge Amado with their dog. The square, sunset and the writers make it even more a fictional scene. Enjoy it!

We walked or jogged by this shore daily during our visit in Salvador. We got to see quiet mornings, hot middays and busy nightfalls.

Praia do Rio Vermelho has a very important milestone in its history, however... nowadays, it is full of homeless people's piss and fish! There's a house in Iemanjá, which could be clean and well looked after, but... it's very dirty too... everything is left to God! A great shame.

The water is dirty as a big sewer goes direct to the ocean. It has a horrible smell even though Rio vermelho area is full of other attractions - more cutural. I would never recommend to go to this beach and spend time over there.

This is nice neighborhood of Salvador and is worth a visit in the evening. It has nice square (Santana), with restaurants/bars
where you can relax with a beer or caipirinha and watch sunset. Simply Superb.

arvind1000, thank you for your words, Rio Vermelho is one of the most beloved neighborhoods in the city, with many attractions, a neighborhood to be discovered.

The Praia do Rio Vermelho beach is another beach in Salvador. Not as popular as the other beaches, it is an area with good social activity - bars, cafes, restaurants and music.

I loved it here. It's where the river turns into the ocean. it's a nice walk to get there. the cutest part was the beach shack selling beer and fried food. i think it's called barraca por do sol. the owners were friendly and got us drunk. what's not to like.
