Beautiful basilica that is located in the lower part of the city, very close to the Mercado Modelo. It was inaugurated in 1765, in a baroque style. Built with limestone bricks that were brought from Portugal. Its interior is too beautiful. Be sure to visit the remains of the original 16th century chapel. It has public toilets and a nice patio.

I visited this church with my 'History of Brazilian Art' class whilst studying in Salvador and it is definitely worth a visit! It is really easy to get to from the Pelourinho- just go down the lift (Elevador Lacerda) and turn left at the bottom. It is bigger than most other churches I visited in Salvador and has a beautifully painted wooden ceiling. I haven't seen it open many times, but we went on a Monday afternoon at 3pm.

Love this place, beautiful old church in the Pelourinho. Not fancy or modern, but that's the point. Cheap or free to enter, depending on the time of day.

This is a very old and traditional church in Salvador. It is front of the famous Bahia de Todos os Santos ( Bay) , the interior is very beautiful and a lot of brides wait for a long time to have the chance to get married there because there's a line of them trying to fulfill their dreams. It's near Elevador Lacerda , another landmark in Salvador.

It was the first church in Salvador, where the Bonfim washing procession leaves, a beautiful celebration, full of history. It was well preserved and they still preserve the first chapel of Salvador that preceded the church, inside it.

Bom dia! Queria saber se a entrada na igreja é paga e quanto custa.
Grata!

\Bom dia, não se paga nada para conhecer esta belíssima igreja, e suas obras de artes que estão por toda extensão dela.
