Pretty village with clothes shops and cafes. The little church is lovely. The turtle project is near the church.

Home to a photogenic beachside church, Project TAMAR (a turtle sanctuary), and some excellent ice cream (Sorveteria: 60 Sabores), Praia do Forte is worth a couple-hour stop. The beach is very small and unimpressive, so I wouldn't make the trip for that, but I heard there are decent tidal pools in the area to explore (tho I didn't). Be careful how you get to Praia do Forte though. There are some terrible tour operators from Salvador that will take you on a wild goose chase. Better to get yourself there.

Overall enjoyed my visit but be careful with the beach bar/ parasol/chair hire from the barracas just past the lighthouse. I was charged 50 Reals and 20 Reals for a drink and then 20 Reals were added at the end for 'service'. So that's a total of 90 Reals and 30% extra added. At the barraca of Simone. Avoid.
Then I was only charged 30 Reals and 20 Reals for a drink at the one next to her and no 'service' charge aka ' you're a foreigner so I'll rip you off' charge. So it pays to check first.

Nice "village" type area with beach about 1.5 hours north of Salvador. Worth a visit, great little acaraje stalls and people watching with little shops here and there. Condos, hotels, posadas here.

Don't go here for sea swimming - at low tide you have to precariously step your way over the very uneven rocks to deep water and at high tide it's too dangerous because you can't see the rocks. Not what I expected for a beach resort.

I came to this place attracted by a beautiful photo in my travel guide, where you can see a small church on the beach in a heavenly setting. Evidently the photo is from many years ago. Today the church sits on a horrible system of prefabricated floors and surrounded by a huge tourist shopping mall worthy of Disneyland.

Praia do Forte reminded me of Búzios, RJ. It has a great atmosphere with all the stores and restaurants in its old centro. Lots of nice condos in the region. I found the beach just ok; warm water but brownish.

This tour is just so cool. Once you get there, you can visit a turtle sanctuary (very impressive). Once done, you can chose to park off on the beach or walk around the little village exploring all the little boutique shops and stalls, this is the main attraction as far as I'm concerned. On your way back you will stop off at Praia de Gaurajuba where you will enjoy a fantastic lunch - try the famous local Bahia dish Moqueca

The beach is beautiful, and the whole resort area around it is fantastic, with the Tamar project that saves turtles, many restaurants and shops, you can easily spend a week there!

Nice place to relax on the beach. Stores selling clothes, crafts of all kinds and some restaurants with music at weekend nights. It´s also a place where they help the turtle population to be preserved. Small and cozy restaurants and inns everywhere.
