Recently elected one of South America's best Zoos, it is actually a "park" set up and managed by INPA - the National Institute of Research in the Amazon. As such, it is an open-air science museum, with animals, plants, and other displays. The flora and fauna are part of the assets of the institute, and used for research, not just... More

This is operated by a research institution for education on the Amazon Region. It was interesting to see the rescued manatees, different fish from the river, the monkeys, the different birds, and other species of animals indigenous to this area. We also saw different plants and flowers. There were some exhibits on rubber and other products that were very informative.... More

the area is peaceful and really pleasant, and one can get really good views of really interesting animals (such as crocodiles, turtles and otters that only exist in the Amazon Region). it's also cheap and it has a nice ice-cream shop with flavours from local fruits. it also displays interesting general info about the Amazon biodiversity (including its most impressive... A guide showed us around. The group was 10 strong and of course I saw few birds. Get around on your own and see more.

This place was fabulous. Short ride from town center by cab, when we didn't have the right money the guy just let us in for free. The people of Manaus are incredibly nice & friendly. The Bosque is a science research place, but walking through the gate is really like entering the rainforest. Beautiful, well-maintained pathways with animals to see... More

From the waterfront outside the fish market in Manaus, we took a taxi for an agreed 35 Reis - £7 or US $10, to the Bosque da Ciencia, the science park. This is located to the east of the city so the drive was interesting through the suburbs. On arrival, our taxi driver got out to ensure that they were... More

We had an overnight stop in Manaus on a recent Amazon cruise and decided to visit this attraction. Though I had researched taking the bus, we teemed up with another couple and took a taxi for 35 reales--a little less than $10, definitely worth it. The admission is 5 reales per person and it is a lovely slice of jungle... More

The best things of this place are the exotic animal that you wont find in the zoo. You can see Manatees (peixe boi), Giant otters (arariranha), several especies of caymans (jacaré) and electric eels. Animals such as monkeys and turtles you can find in the zoo as well. If you are interested in botanic they have the biggest dicotyledonous leaf... More

I found the park hard to reach. I got a mototaxi from the old town but the first one I took got lost. There are buses available too which may be easier. Once inside I followed the map I was given. It's easy to navigate around and enjoyed seeing the Manatees, Giant Otters, Crocodiles, Turtles and Monkeys. The have one... More
