This building could be seen by us from our cruise ship balcony thus we walked to it several times. It is not open to the public. The building looks very nice from the outside. This building and associated lighthouse are located right on the waterfront near the ferry terminal. It is certainly an interesting building and reminiscent from when Manaus was a thriving rubber trading city. A beautiful building on the waterfront in Manaus, the Alfandega stands out like a beacon. The lighthouse attached to this building has a fascinating farol (lantern room) at the apex. Although probably no longer in use, it is possible to get reasonably close, with permission, to photograph it.

It is quite a nice building but i don't think you can go in at this time. as there are a lot of construction around.
