A big part of the place is reconstructed, but another part is totally not. This all adds some atmosphere to the place.
I didn't follow the map and didn't check all those places and their historical meaning, but I rather approached the fortress as a park, walk on the top of the wall and enjoyed the view at the town and also the river that is below the fortress.
As I heard and also saw by myself, there is a lot of events happening at the fortress, making it quite a cultural place in Banja Luka.

The only real remnants are the surrounding walls, with the real buildings within it largely destroyed over the centuries. Fortress is a more appropriate term. The day before an event was organised and at many places it was rather a garbage belt then a touristic attraction...

Cool old fortress (old, as in its foundations are apparently pre-Roman) right on the banks of the Vrbas River.

Free to walk around, nice place to hang out and watch the birds in/on/near the river, and there are even (clean) porta-potties onsite.

Worth checking out if you're in Banja Luka, especially for the first time.

Nice location, traditional food, river view, pleasant staff. Inside of restaraunt you will feel ancient Banja Luka.

Appealing space and nice vista of the River. But no museum and not any translations of signage. The restaurant in the walls looks very appealing. This battlement is in good shape but needs development.

It’s located in the heart of Banja Luka just 5 minutes walk from city center. I’ve been there for jogging as it is right next to my apartment

Tvrdava is located at the confluence of two rivers Vrbas and Crkvena. Historically this has been a strategic site. The rivalry between Austria-Habsburg and the Ottoman empire played out here. Eventually the Ottomans prevailed for several ages and during their rule construction of the fort started from the 1550s onwards. It got its definitive shape early 18th century.

The walls of the fort look rather low and vulnerable to attack. However, on the landside there used to be a 20 to 30m wide trench (now not visible anymore) making it harder to approach the fort.

A pity there is no information board yet.

A beautiful place to visit on a Saturday. Often has concerts and/or events. Sits right beside the Vrbas river. Has an amazing overview over a prt of the city. Perfect for kids.

Beautiful fortress in a historic area that has a lot of mosques and churches around. There is a great restaurant in the fortress called Kazamat.

Would be good if there were more things to do inside and insights into medieval times.

Although the fortress covers a vast area, beside the walls there is very little to be seen inside. At the time of my visit parts of the fortress were closed to public due to restoration works and an archeological dig; even the restaurant was closed. Free entry. So, take a quick look and move on!
