It looks much older than the age, but it is well preserved they know little of man but do know the age of the house and family name.

We were recommended to visit this restored ancient family residence whilst nearby at Hirosaki Castle. In fact there are several preserved old family homes in the same area.
We are so glad that we made the effort walk a couple of blocks away from the park to find this place.
The building is very well preserved and the interior is maintained to look, as closely as possible, the way it was when in use by the family.
The guide on duty the day we visited, sadly knew no English, so we did the best we could with sign language to understand the use of each room.
We are very glad we had the opportunity to see how Japanese peoplelived in the past. A very simple existence.

These houses are in a residential area and it can be quite confusing when you turn up. You will have to walk down a residential street with a sign pointing you in the right direction and then you will come to the residence with gates open and flags out the front. It is free to enter and there are friendly people at the house to welcome you in and hand out pamphlets about the place. You must take your shoes off to enter as it does have the traditional Japanese floors.
