Several shrines along the walkway that clings to the cliff side. Dedicated to Mikestu the Shinto goddess of marriage harmony. Many statue frogs to pat for a wish. And the fascinating folklore story about the 2 off shore rocks 'husband and wife' linked by a rope. Good for a visit but expect crowds.Long shopping complex at the end with lots of souvenir possibilities.

Kids liked the frogs and we liked the rocks. They are a beautiful back drop and I recommend visiting if you intend on visiting the area.

When continuing your walk towards the Meotoiwa rocks you will pass the Futami Okitama Shrine via a small alley on the right-hand side of it.
It is a nice looking shrine though and certainly worth a short stop.

The shrine is worth visiting although it is small if you visit Ise. The formal order to visit shrines is this one, Ise Jingu Geku and Ise Jingu Naigu. If you don't have time, just visit Ise Jingu Naigu. However this shrine is close to a nice beach, so if you have plenty of time to stay in Ise, it is a good idea to visit the other two shrines and then visit this shrine and relax on the beach as we did.

A Shrine dedicated to the prosperity of married couples where people come to pray at sunrise. The summer solstice the sun rises center to the sacred Meitowa. The frogs are considered auspicious signs of this shrine. Great views.

There is a beach next to shrine, you could take a walk around the place. When we visit the place, it was rainy and windy so we did not get to walk around.

Nothing much about the place. Marriage rock and shrine to see only. You are given 2 options for parking: 1) pay for parking 2) purchase souvenir to get free parking. We decide to opt for free parking so we purchase sake for souvenir. Thankfully the sake were good.

Personally if it is free parking without T&C, I don't mind visiting the place. However, if I have to pay for it, I rather skip this place.

Nice view of the Ise wan from here. God of a frog awaits you! Frog in Japanese is Kaeru(meaning coming back). Obviously good luck comes back to you when you visit this place.

It is a surprisingly easy 20 mins walk from railway stop. The signs are very clear. If not sure, there is a visitor center and the staff is very friendly and kind to point out the directions. There are also coffee shops along the way to take a break and to enjoy the view. The story of the rocks and the shrine speak well the culture to respect the nature. I really enjoy it.

Please be respectful when visiting this place. Do not shout and dance about. It is not just a tourist site. It is a religious and respected site. Please abide by the rules of waiting in line (in queue) don't push and shove to get a view, and following the bowing, ringing of the bell, and clapping order that is requested. It may not be your custom, but it is the custom of this area.
