Wakamiya Oji is a 2km long approach to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine that stretches in a straight line from Yuigahama Beach.
It's easy to walk along, and with plenty of trees it's cool and pleasant.
Many shops are lined up on the sidewalks across the road, some of which are registered tangible cultural properties.
Seeing the many shops lined up gives you an idea of how prosperous Kamakura was in the past.

Less than one hour by train from Tokyo. Take the east exit from the station (there is a Starbucks nearby if you have jet lag). Walk half a block and turn left to walk the broad avenue lined with gorgeous cherry trees, a new walkway, lanterns, etc. Leading to a lovely shrine and gardens.

Was in the area with some old friends and they brought me shopping here after visiting one of the nearby temples. It's a wonderful place to shop. I found a great comic book, handmade clothes dyed with natural indigo, great pickles, great Japanese sweets, there's a Muji. I bought a nice bracelet got my girlfriend that was purified using a crystal and a tiny bell. There's a great brush store that sells natural hair brushes of all kinds. One place had ceramic figurines that you infused with essential oils. There's awesome tableware, shoes, hats, fun street foods, a Ghibli store, you name it. Everything is on the higher-end side. This isn't Ueno. It's comparable to Koedo near Tokyo.

Interesting walkway leading up to the main shrine. Better to walk on either side of the street to view the storefronts and eateries.

What a lovely wide street with plenty of things to do and see along the way. Interesting shops and not as busy for pedestrians.

This ancient avenue, the Avenue of the Young Prince, dates from the early Kamakura period 900 years ago. It forms a processional way from the beach to the main shrine, Hachimangu. I suggest you take full advantage of this and walk from Geba, the place where traditionally visitors dismounted to walk the rest of the way on foot. Also, once you have done this, you can also visit the many shops and restaurants along the way, especially on the western, city side.
