    Tranquil
There’re many shrines and temples in Kamakura and I had a great time walking around and exploring them all. This is the biggest temple in Kamakura. The temple grounds are so calm and peaceful. There’s a nice eating place within the temple grounds. Right beside the eatery is a uphill path which you can climb to get a panoramic view of this charming coastal town. If you’re in Kamakura, you should definitely visit this temple.

    Mystic
When you think abou Kamakura, the first thing which comes up to your mind is the Kamakura Daibutsu, the big statue of Buddha. It’s such a mystic experience to find yourself in front of “him” due to its imponence. The temple itself, apart from the Big Buddha, is relaxing and liveable too.

    Beautiful statue
Lovely area. I travelled from Shinjuku to Kamakura and then boarded the local tram to Hase. The temple is within walking distance from Hase and there were street signs to show you the way. There were local shops and street food along the way for you to explore. The Buddha statue was beautiful and I enjoyed my time there. Be mindful that there is a 200 yen entrance fee.

Amazing, but only if you visit the surrounding area as well.
Pretty standard experience. They have a small shop to the side of the buddha statue and other small one before it, and you have to pay to enter. A lot of nature and some interesting architecture, but the real interest point is the statue as expected, and it is smaller than it seems by photos. Kamakura itself have an interesting shopping road, another temple and garden as well. Kamakura is a quite chill tranquil with a lot of nature too.

If you are in Kamakura, you should stop by.
It's a nice day-trip to Kamakura from Tokyo. There are so many things to do in Kamakura, and you would definitely want to stop by the Kotoku-in Budda stature. It does get crowded and if you want to have a nice photo without a lot of tourists, go there early.

    Impressive icon
Not far from our Shinjuku hotel is Kamakura's Great Buddha. This is the town's main attraction -- not the Candle Tower, the Shrines and Temples, or shopping. It is larger than I expected. Made of copper, it is greenish. At one time, as the guide told us, it was covered in goldleaf, which can still be barely seen in some areas. Sitting on huge granite blocks, the Buddha's base has an entrance to the inside room. Like the entry and the inside room, there are separate fees. Because of the light rain, we saw it from the shelter of the adjacent building's patio. It is one of the historic icons of Japan.

    Kamakura in Fall Festive Mood
My family visited Kamakura area on Nov 29 for momijigari, and we had a wonderful day beyond expectations. We followed the suggested path, and it didn't disappoint. The blazing crimson maple leaves and the golden gingo dressed Kamakura on a festive mood. The sun was shining so bright making the fall color more vibrant and the experience more exciting. Attached are some stunning pictures to share.

The Daibutsu is certainly very impressive but the rest of the small temple complex is rather underwhelming. Be prepared for crowds.

We were really looking forward to visiting this Kamakura Buddha Statue. But it is in a very mediocre, average, nothing special maintained complex. No flowers, very commercialized. It just did not feel special at all. Disappointing...
