We took a ferry from Moji-ko to the Kaikyokan side. Visited with two kids (7&9). Good place to visit as a family. Make sure you have enough cash (about $100 for 4 people) to pay for admission! The ticket machine accepted cash only as of April 2015, and there was no ATM nearby.... Other than that, nice decent attraction right... More

The aquarium is very clean however it is sad that so many animals are in such closed off areas. There are many fish, mammals and penguins. If you are an animal lover it is not a nice site however it is in a great location and the staff are very kind.

Nice aquarium with 100 different types of blowfish. Cute penguins inside and outside. Dolphins put on a cute show.

We really enjoyed this aquarium. We ate at a little cafe that had fun and yummy food for the whole family all while we watched the dolphins swim around. The harbor is clean and very nice, they also have a small amusement park next to the aquarium. We had so much fun.

The excellent aquatic show, restaurant with a view of the dolphins just over the glass, the full blue whale skeleton or the perfect view of the Kanmon straits nearby....Kaikyokan in Shimonoseki is a must go aquarium for any one of these reasons!

Very nicely designed aquarium and it's very attractive to younger children. We also loved the dolphin restaurant very much. A cozy walking by the sea or to go to the playground next to the aquarium could be considered after visiting aquarium.

A very well designed aquatic centre with loats of interesting fishy exhibits, the giant ocean sun fish, the massive almost prehistoric amazon river fish and the massive variety of puffer fish are highlights but there is just a lot to see. As well as the fish there is a very good Penguin park as as well including an underwater walk... More
