Beautiful serene park like memorial. I loved the quotes from President Roosevelt's speeches.I learned how truly insightful he was.

Theodore Roosevelt Island Park is off the beaten path from the usual attractions in Washington DC along the Mall. We decided to make the walk over to the island to see what it was all about. It is unfortunate that there are no signs from the Lincoln Memorial directing foot traffic over to this island since it could become a... More

A fantastic memorial and great for hiking, walking, jogging, and dog walking. Others launch their kayaks and paddle boards from the parking lot for easy access to the Potomac River across from Georgetown. Although in August 2015 it appears the National Park Service has all but abandoned this great memorial; it is still impressive and worth stopping for. Free parking... More

Want to see something that almost no one has? Right across the river from the Kennedy Center is Roosevelt Island which has a cool memorial stuck in the middle of it. I grew up in DC and didn't know about this place until I was in my 20s....and Teddy's my favorite president!!

We went to the the monument which is on the island. You park and walk across bridge to island then a little hike to monument area. It has many quotes that flank the monument of Roosevelt. There is also other hiking areas that you can walk. It was very shaded though it was humid but hey it was July.

This is an island in the Potomac River just east of Rosslyn and west of the Lincoln Memorial on the Mall. I does have a trail that goes around the island and some of it is boardwalk over marshy area. It is not very well kept up. They keep it naturalized, which is fine, but it seems to be very... More

The man had a way with words, to bad our leaders have forgotten about the American people, if they still cared as much as some have in the past, think of what a great nation this would be.

This is a park that is low on most peoples priority list and for good reason. It is not well maintained and for the effort to get there, not worth the time given the hundreds of other attachtions in the city. It's too bad too since Teddy Roosevelt was such a great president and outdoorsman.

You have have a taste of wilderness here, just a few minutes walk from Georgetown. No great challenges, just a walk around a small, flat island that's mostly unbuilt. There is a memorial to TR that's not terrible. Nice views of parts of DC over the water. Some wildlife. Kids can't get into too much trouble on the island. If... More
