Where the dead really do speak. We stumbled upon this 18th century burial ground on our way to a grocery store. Although cemetery records suggest that 300 burials are here, there are far fewer stones and many of their inscriptions are unreadable. But read of some them, learn where they originated and what they did with their lives. Kind of... More

We were not able to get inside, but still this was a wonderful place to stop and visit. There's a beautiful and peaceful cemetery in the back with the Tomb of the Unknown Revolutionary War Soldier. Located on one of the many beautiful streets in Alex, this is well worth a stop and look.

Nice old church - in good shape and worth the time to visit. I like old cemeteries and real historical sights and this has both.

We went off the beaten path to find this charming little piece of history. We didn't make it inside but spent some time in the little cemetery behind the church. We paid our respects at the tomb of the unknown revolutionary soldier and pondered the stories of those buried there.

We were there at 9am on a Friday and the inside wasn't open but that was fine by us. We really wanted to see the location and to go out back to see the Tomb of the Unknown for the Revolutionary War. How gorgeous! They say there are 300 people buried back there but it is so tiny that it... More

The Old Presbyterian Meeting House is a thriving, living church within the walls of Alexandria history. Dating from 1773, it has had its ups & downs over the years, but currently is an active part of the Presbyterian church, complete with a thriving preschool community. Originally, the Scots were considered rebels by the English crown and weren't allowed a church... More

A classic piece of history nestled in the heart of Old Town Alexandria. From the weathered vintage brick to the creaking pews & the antique smell of vintage woods etc. this is an enjoyable view into our founders past. The vintage pipe organ is really something & the grave yard in the church yard has many early citizens at rest.... More

Great historical location. Go to just hear the pews creak. Lovely natural lighting and even has the nostalgia aroma! A must see.

The Meeting House is located on a quiet side street in Old Town. There are separate entrances for 'women' and 'men.' The interior is graceful and plain. What is more interesting is the graveyard behind the church where you will fine a tomb of an unknown Revolutionary Soldier. This too is quiet and plain but human in scale which makes... More
