Although this "villa" is in disrepair, please understand that the owners (who are up there in age) are using their personal money to try and restore this magnificent building. We toured the house with the owner, Mrs Dulaney. and learned the history from beginning to...More

Visited this historic home on a beautiful day in the Shenandoah Valley. You can get off interstate 64 and make a quick visit on a weekend when they are open. You get to walk around the ground floor and visualize what it must have been...More

I would not say this is a palace, more like a manor. Not very visitor friendly with No Trespassing signs posted every where. Our Inn hosts said it was okay to visit, but it was not welcoming.

Wonderful part of history. So many unique elements that make it an asset for Virginia. Would love to see it restored to it's glory so that we would be able to see the entire estate. Tour guide was amazing.

The OK - Interesting stained glass window, staircase, entrance way fireplace. The not OK - This place is almost a complete ruin. The rooms on the first floor that are open to the public feature peeling wallpaper, broken fixtures, junk stored in pretty much all...More

As of today, this place appears closed and no longer available for tours. There are signs that read "No trespassing" and "private property" all along the road. Too bad because it has an interesting history and came highly recommended.

Great house to look at. Website says it is available for tours and we definitely didn't get that impression. Was still fun to drive by though.

This place was beautiful in the 70's; it's such a shame it's fallen into disrepair. The part you can go into has been kept up for the most part but there are quite a few places that you are not allowed to go in the...More

Visiting Swannanoa is a happy - sad event! It is a palace in a state of ruin with enough pieces still there you can imagine it in its heyday! I was hoping some hotel chain would purchase it and restore it to its grandeur.

Hi! We paid $8 per person
What is the cost to tour Swannanoa? I see that you do not accept credit cards, so I want to make sure that I have enough cash.
