My husband and I spent another fun weekend in Abingdon, seeing two plays at the Barter. We have never been disappointed. We enjoy both the main theater and the smaller Stage II. Each adds it own particular ambience to the play being produced. We will keep on coming back and are sure to spread the word.

Incredible talent at all levels: from the screenplay to the direction to the costuming to the acting, singing, dancing, and action scenes. My husband (who worked for 30 years in New York City and watched a lot of wonderful plays) and I were greatly entertained by the Three Musketeers, so superbly adapted for the stage by Catherine Bush. I love... More

I am just a country boy, so I was a little worried about going to see The Three Musketeers. Wow, was I shocked. It was my first trip ever to the theatre. This play and cast was absolutely awesome. My face hurt from smiling. The props, the set, the venue and the crew were marvelous!

We liked the theater so much we went to a second show the next night. There are 2 theaters (old & new). We saw our first show in the new theater; but had to see a show in the old theater too. Both shows were terrific!

We went to Abingdon, Va (first time I had been back there in over 20 years) and saw two (2) plays at The Barter Theater. We saw Curtains at the main stage and also I'll Be Back Before Midnight at stage II across the street. Both plays were very well done and Curtains was exceptionally entertaining as it was a... More

My first time here and really enjoyed the performance. Very professional actors and great entertainment. The theater is very modern and we'll worth the price of admission.

One of the many jewels of Abingdon, VA is the Barter Theater. It has long been a launching pad for many actors. It is definitely a MUST see. Although, I am sad to say a definite MUST NOT see is the comedy "Doyle and Debbie". While the actors are very talented (especially Debbie), the show is terrible!!! I purchased tickets... More

This is our third visit to the Barter Theater. This time we saw the performance at Barter II. It's an intimate theater. A Great Performance.

We have to travel over two hours to get to the Barter Theater, but we try to see a few plays each year. The Doyle and Debbie show was one of the funniest and most entertaining show that we have seen. The performers do an outstanding job in this parody of country music groups. The final number, "Fat Women in... More
