Famous as one of the best flyfishing rivers in New England, the Battenkill also has many wonderful swimming holes (including one just under the covered bridge in West Arlington) and many spots for putting in a kayak or tube. Highly recommended on a hot summer day!

As a retired Maine and Adirondack Guide, I can't say enough about the quality of this outfitter. They offer complete packages including put in and pick up and also offer a shuttle service for those with their own canoes or kayaks. The staff are very professional and are great about sharing their local knowledge. They also have a nice shop... More

We accessed the Battenkill from a camping area in Arlington called "Camping on the Battenkill." Because of its perfect combination of beauty, cleanliness, and handy local businesses for supplies, this campground and a 5 mile section of the river has accommodated our large group for over 20 years.

We went on a 12 mile river trip using our own kayaks. Our entire family including our 9 year old loved this trip. It was better than any amusement park. We arranged at trip through Josh at Vermont River Rafters. He is so knowledgeable and loves this river. He is a good river steward and I was happy we selected... More

The river is majestic in its beauty and very photogenic in many areas of the river. One area is in West Arlington at the covered bridge by the green. It's in this area a house and studio still stand that was the residence of Norman Rockwell for many years.

Pleasant run down the kill with water gage height around 4.1 ft. Little low, but we managed to get around the slow spots. Had to get out and walk couple of times. There were a bunch of tubers on the river having a good time. Unfortunately, some of the beer cans and bottles ended up in the river. Disappointing that... More

Great setup and base camp, lovely and knowledgable people. The equipment is top notch and they take by van into Arlington Vt. for a three hour tube ride down the Battenkill ending in Shushan NY at the state picnic area.. Along the way the water speeds up and slows down with lots of interesting nature scenes to enjoy- great little places... More

what an experience world class Ben Gill sports scores picture of mind either a tubing adventure were a kayak and let you see the sights from the creek instead of the road and what is real to see the covered bridges insights but so few people do see. definitely worth the trip

Spent a couple of hours tubing down the Battenkill River. We put in up the road and then floated down across the NY border to get out of a very popular spot.
