Parked our car on the side of road. As we walked to the trail head, noticed several cars with windows broken into. Decided to just go back to our car. There must be a homeless settlement in the woods. Easy to see the paths where they come and break into the cars.

This Austin gem is wonderful. We rented e bikes, which was easy, and rode about 15 miles one day. We saw plenty of ppl riding bikes, running, walking pets, picnicking and just hanging out enjoying this area of town. Then there were more opportunities to kayak, SUP, and enjoy being IN the water. Tip: not all of the greenbelt id bike friendly. Pay attention to the maps. They are numerous on your route, and don’t take the Violet Trail if you have an e bike!

The creek is completely dry. Our rental car had the window busted out in the parking area at the trailhead. One positive they had nice paths for hiking.

We were excited to explore but after my experience this is not a safe place, people broke in my vehicle.

We only experienced a short segment of it on our bikes but pretty great to have access to nature like this in the middle of an urban setting. Felt far removed from the city when here.

Fun time in nature. Great exercise, and easy to access. Great for rock hunting, animal sighting, and hiking/biking.

Even with near freezing temps and a lot of wind, the Barton Creek Greenbelt was an enjoyable hiking experience. The trails are not crowded in the winter, especially if you begin hiking before noon.

This is a definite asset in Austin, but we were confused by the different accounts of how to find the trail heads and where to park. Once on the trail, it was quite lovely.

If you need a little bit of nature in your day, and want some solitude amongst busy Austin, this is a great place to walking or hiking. You can go for a long or short walk, either way you'll be refreshed.

This is a pleasant green space with good trails. Be aware that it gets very crowded on weekends and that the parking is limited.
