We stopped by for a late afternoon snack. We had popcorn and wine ..... why not!? Later that evening after dinner and a show we stopped back to listen to the last set of an enjoyable jazz group. This is a beautiful and romantic old hotel. It's said LBJ and Lady Bird's 1st date was here.

Though a local resident, we have held our annual company holiday party at this hotel for many years and I have been fortunate to spend many nights there myself. This historical hotel, now part of the Hyatt world, combines old world elegance with incredible hospitality in a fantastic location. Austin has many fine hotels but no one ever regrets coming... We didn't stay here, but visited a couple of times for their amenities. A beautiful and historic hotel with a story. Breakfast can be taken in the lobby, but better is the Driskill Bar up a level. Outfitted with cowhide, suede, and mahogany, this is a great place to enjoy a cocktail, conversation, and a little live music in an... More

In a state and city where casual is more often the rule, The Driskill is charming and sophisticated and grand. This historic hotel even has high tea service in the afternoon. That is not to say that it is stuffy or uppity. The customer service is gracious and the restaurants are simply yummy. There are pet-friendly accommodations, a business center... More

The Driskill is a great property and one of my first choices when in Austin on business. Rooms are a comfortable size, breakfast is a winner, staff is friendly and helpful. The bar upstairs is lively. Great location, walking distance to a lot including busy 6th Street. Wifi always solid and air conditioning works well. Love that some historical bits... More

Just popped in for a look around. Lovely historic building. I think they have done a great job in maintaining the building. The cafe bakery is fab! Really good coffee and the baked goods look Devine.

We were there during SXSW and if you're looking for somewhere with an electric atmosphere for late afternoon drinking, then this place is for you.

Worth a short visit while strolling down 6th street or Congress Ave. to take in the character and charm of old Austin. Right in the Heart of Downtown so hard to miss.
