Beautiful facade and ideal intimate location. The rooms are relatively small - the bathrooms are spacious and very clean. You don't get anything in your room unless you order it, but if you do, they are very prompt and professional. The beds are comfortable and 'grand' in a romantic way. It is clean, not super-luxurious but a very nice mid-level... More

I stayed last Saturday and was so impressed with the hotel, I stayed another night. I stayed on the 5th floor, which is their "Historic" floor and it's like staying at a museum. Their art is beautiful on this floor and it's almost like you are in a different dimension or time period, but with modern amenities. The rooms are... More

We toured this venerable old hotel and had a drink in the bar. It is positively beautiful and elegant. This place is truly a treasure as a hotel, especially, but also as a nightspot. I recommend this place highly in all respects and aspects! It will be a place I stop on every Austin trip.

All you want in an old grand hotel with a fantastic restaurant. We went to the grill for brunch and were treated like royalty, which we clearly are not. The food is delicious...the pastries were all so beautiful and tempting we plan on going back just for an afternoon treat.

My daughter and I planned a special weekend trip, meeting in Austin from opposite parts of the country. I had two free night certificates for a Hyatt property, and there was something about this grand hotel that we wanted to experience. The hotel refused to honor the free night for Thursday, so I used one free night and paid over... More

In the heart of downtown Austin. Classic hotel, beautiful & worth seeing. Eat at the 2886 bakery & cafe there inside the hotel. Eggs Benedict was wonderful!!! (As was the tomato jam!) everything made fresh there. Enjoyed it all.

When in Austin you must stop in and allow yourself to be taken back to a time of splendor and grace in the earlier days of Texas. The decorating of the hotel is grand, the Driskill Bar is a must stop for a drink, and the "people watching" is an event all to itself. When in Austin, set aside an... More

Charming and beautiful lobby and areas throughout this historic hotel. Lobby bar worth going for drink and entertainment in the evening. Check schedule. Find old vault and phone booth!! Breakfast was wonderful at hotel.

It just SMELLS like Texas history! I love the bar and Dave the bartender. Old time Texas themed throughout. The rooms are small, but the hotel is ancient. They often host weddings there. I just love this place!
