Its a nice view but not worth getting your car broken into! Never again will we be going there! That place is full of glass all over the place since you get there you get a bad vice seeing all the glass on the floor. I never thought low life people would be doing that at bright daylight and specially off the highway! And to top it off APD don’t do anything they don’t even come out to make a report you have to do it online or wait 14 days to get a call to make a report!

Beautiful bridge over a beautiful lake/river. The lake remains full in summer of 2023 while Lake Travis shows miles of unsightly shorelines due to the drought. The hike to the overlook is short and the views are great. Unfortunately, some people are pigs and cannot visit places without leaving their trash behind. It's pretty pathetic.

Even if you have never visited Austin, Texas, you probably are familiar with the Pennybacker Bridge, more commonly known as the 360 Bridge. It forms a beautiful backdrop to the PGA Tour's match-play golf tournament that is played on the course that hugs the Colorado River. Opened in 1982, it is a four-lane through-arch bridge that spans Lake Austin and connects the northern and southern sections of the Loop 360 Highway, also known as the "Capital of Texas Highway." This stretch of road is widely considered to be one of the most scenic urban drives in Texas, mostly due to the arched weathering-steel bridge and the rolling hills that flank the road. The bridge is named for Percy V. Pennybacker, who designed bridges for the Texas Highway Department and was a pioneer in the technology of welded structures. Interestingly, the 600 short tons of steel used for the 1,150-foot-long bridge with its signature 600-foot central arched span were produced in Japan and the bridge structures were fabricated in Korea. The bridge also has a six-foot-wide bicycle and pedestrian lane and also has lake access for public boating and waterskiers. At the time of its construction, it was the only the second bridge of its design in the world.

The view was great and the claim was not at all difficult.
BE WARNED!! It looks like a place where thieves will come break your windows and take out valuables ( I saw multiple glass pieces spots - which means they happened in the last few days) and then unfortunately met a couple who had their rental car window broken.
With all the risks, I do not think this place warrants a visit. No signs of informing lookers about the potential intrusion also. As people drive down the bridge their focus will be on the beautiful front view than seeing anyone breaking windows.

Are the views good from the cliffs? Yes but this is not going to be much of an adventure. The bridge is okay and the hike up the hill not so much. It is a short hike less then a quarter of a mile through trash and graffiti, to an overcrowded ledge above the bridge. The views are outstanding, pictures without people or shadows of hard to get. Might be a great place to get some Sunrise/Sunset pictures if there isn't a big crowd.

It's a bridge and judging by the recommendations here you'd think it was beautiful and that there was a photo spot or a walking trail where you could explore.
NOPE.
Just a bridge.

It looks like a gang operates here to break into cars and steal. Though it is happening on a main highway, it looks like City of Austin doesn't care. There is so much glass on the parking. I thought Austin is safe but NOT A SAFE CITY. I suggest NOT to park far away from the entrance to the hill and don't leave any valuables in the carl. Or take a taxi, Uber etc.

BEWARE!!
Our window was smashed and we were robbed. The parking area is full of glass, after doing some research it’s a hot spot for thieves. They also not only broken into our car but another car a couple feet down. Even though the parking area is off of a main highway it still happened.
Don’t go!

To visit Pennybacker Bridge Overlook, a scenic spot from top of a cliff, park your car on the side of Highway 360 - pay attention to the no parking signs - sometime polices will write tickets. A short rocky relative steep hike to the top of the hill - flip flop and high heels are not recommended. There is no fence - so make sure young children are close to you at all times. Great view and ROI for such a quick hike.

Pennybacker Bridge is over Lake Austin which was created by dams at both ends (Lake Travis on one end and Lady Bird Lake--Town Lake for the longterm Austinites at the other). This past weekend it overlook the PGA tournament since Austin Country Club is just below it. Yes, you can walk over this bridge as well as bike.

Can you walk over this bridge?

Not if you want to live another day. Capitol of Texas Highway is VERY busy. People do bike across the bridge, but I am sure walking is not advised....
