A true honky-tonk, not some urban cowboy facade. Great music, family-oriented dance hall. Not unusual to see old folks dancing with 20-somethings; it's more a community thing than "date night." Be sure to visit the "museum." Sadly, Austin's out-of-control development has nearly swallowed up this...More

This is the real deal. Go casual and learn how to 2-step properly! Chicken fried steak is a good one. For the bar, hope you like beer!

Was recommended The Broken Spoke by many people in Austin as the place for country and western music and dancing. We are visiting from the UK, and have traveled US extensively over the years, BUT have never experienced such bad customer service and attitude EVER!...More

As tourists we really wanted to experience a true honky tonky bar while in Texas. This gorgeous dance hall really takes you back. On Saturday night you can learn how to line dance. Be aware it's the two step and you need a partner. Good...More

It's historic. There are some very old photos and things to look at. Our group was into history, so that's why we chose it. Many of us ordered the Chicken Fried Steak. Not much flavor and tough.

This old dance hall is a must to get the flavor of Texas music and Texas dancing. It also has a small country western museum. It's old and hasn't been really kept up. Small bathrooms.But...good music, good beer, good food.

This historic land mark country western dance hall and bar has been a mainstay in Austin for all...of my 64 years in Austin. Great food, great characters nestled between big business high rises and this gravel parking lot has held it's ground proudly. It's not...More

The Broken Spoke is one of the few remaining honkey tonks. I love the way they stood their ground, while modern condos and building just built right around them. True taste of Texas!

My group thought it would be fun to take two step lessons while visiting Austin. We went to Broken Spoke, paid $20.00 each for dance lessons. The "not too friendly" lady at the register insisted that everyone in our group of seven pay, even though...More

I have made reservations before for a birthday party. It just depends on the size of the party. Call them and I am sure they will take good care of your needs.
