About
Established in 1975 by the late Clifford Antone, Antone's is an iconic blues and R&B venue located in downtown Austin. Over the past 40 years, Antone's has brought Austin a variety of blues and R&B musicians from across the country including greats like B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed, and Buddy Guy, as well as help develop local talent including Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmie Vaughn, Bob Schneider, Gary Clark Jr. and countless others. In 2015, the historic brand was restored and a new team brought the iconic venue back to the downtown Austin landscape with a renewed focus on once again making Antone's the "Home of the Blues."

Overall we had a good time at Antone's on a Monday night however I would say there is no need for it to be that loud in volume! We had to purchase earplugs and I saw plenty of other people doing the same or holding their fingers/hands over their ears. There is no need for that level in that size of room. Soul Man Sam was great however unable to perform a full set, the replacements for him weren't quite the same quality of sound/voice so that was lacking. The service was ok, nothing particularly special or welcoming and there was a strange lady with red hair who came round asking for tips which we found a little awkward however this might be standard for Blue's Clubs in Austin. Overall for the price and quality of the house band this was a fun night, just needed to turn it down a little. The merchandise at the front was also quite nice and reasonably priced

A visit to this fabled establishment was always on my agenda. Granted, it's NOT the original building, BUT it's replicated as original as can be.
I visited a few days before a show, very helpful staff who happily let me wander around he club and absorbing the atmosphere.
When I did visit the live act, Soul Man Sam was appearing on Blues Monday. Ticket was an unbelievable $10, I got one of the tables and just soaked the experience up.
The show was brilliant, met the musicians too.
Again, staff were incredibly nice and genuine.
The shop had some fantastic merchandise too.
Just brilliant.

Reality check for old people. I just want to warn those of you who cannot STAND UP for an extended amount of time. There are maybe 15 barstools and about 6 small tables for 4. AND about 300 people - packed. The tables were all marked "reserved" when we got here an hour before the show. I didn't realize it would be like this. My husband and I are here right now, leaning up against the only pole in the room. I can't see the stage at all. It's hot. The show is 30 minutes late (not unusual for music venues). As long as you know all of this ahead of time, you'll love it.

Just be prepared!

I highly recommend this place and will definitely go back! Small intimate tables very close to the stage. The wait staff was really on their game, and I love the way you write your drink request on paper and clip it to something on the table so that the waitresses know when you need a drink. A most excellent idea! Back to the music, though, which was FANTASIC. Very cool place!

Be warned-If it is sold out expect to stand for hours crushed by the crowd. 2 x $35 for the show, website announcing stating arrive early, first come first serve. The show was supposed to start at 8 pm. We were there at 7:10, doors opening at 7:00. Seating, except for “reserved” was for perhaps 25 people. I asked a seated couple when they arrived: A-6:00. There were 400 when the show was to start. $23.50 for two half-filled glasses of plonk white. No seating for us & hundred of others. OK, just tell me in advance. The sound system for electric guitar and base, together with drums, drowned out the named performer. This was the worst venue for such a performance I have been in, bar none. Not sure what the fire regulation limits are, but I saw 2 exits.

Antone's is a funky little spot that is built for the blues. Nothing fancy about this place. Went on a cool February night which impacted the size of the crowd. Too bad for those who missed the Texas Horns. They sounded great with songs from their first two releases. We had purchased tickets in advance, but on this night anyone who arrived would be able to find a table. I imagine that on busier nights most people would be standing. Nice bar, but only food available is premade po boy sandwiches, although you are able to bring in your own food. Long live the blues.

Was disappointed that there wasn't a blues band playing when we were in town but the R&B cover band made for fun people watching.

I love the new Antone's. I recently saw Billy Gibbon's Jungle show there and it was amazing. The club is small but that adds to the charm. If the event/show you attend there has VIP tickets I recommend them. We were able to go upstairs to a large private area and escape the crowd when we needed a break. (They just need a better projector and viewing screen upstairs.) The staff is friendly; which is rare considering how crazy busy they are. Also kudos to the security staff for taking care of everything. Don't miss the gift shop with Antone's items, posters, photos, amps etc. So glad Antone's reopened in it's third location. As a 30 year Austinite I love it that this landmark keeps on going!
