A great quick walk to a superb view of both the city of Austin and Lake Austin. Lots of winding trails that open up on to incredible views.

Came here with another couple. The hike up the stairs was short and sweet, took less than 5 minutes to get up. The views were amazing. It took much less time than expected and although it was beautiful I wouldn't do it again unless I...More

Everyone told us to go here when we visited Austin. We were not disappointed. The stairs are not nearly that bad or long as we were led to believe. Particularly great during sunset

I have this picture of me topless in my 20s with the Austin skyline behind me. I have been searching the internet to try and figure where the picture was taken. 16 years later and chance outing where we could take the kids for a...More

We came here hoping to take some nice photos from the peak of mount Bonnell and we were not disappointed with the shots we got. Although it was facing away from downtown, the scenery in this part of the US is still great and largely...More

In the first week of January, we visited the Mount Bonnell. The views were wonderful. We climbed the steps to the top. We hiked to the left and took some pictures. Then we hiked to the right and took many pictures. The vista points on...More

Okay, you want views of the city--well, don't bother, this won't do it. After climbing and climbing, we get to the summit only to find the views blocked by overgrown vegetation. Plus, the space at the summit is quite small and, the day we were...More

A short but very steep climb up rock type stpes takes you to the top and once you get there you can see all over Austin. Pet and family friendly. Pack a lunch, water, your camera and wear your hiking shoes and enjoy the views.

Quick trip up with the kids and was so happy to watch them climb and explore. While there are some spots that are terrifyingly dangerous with littles - heck with adults too - it is well worth the adventure!

It makes me sad that this is the best Austin has to offer. The view was ok, but that's about it. Nothing special.

Yes. They have picnic tables & trash cans there in assorted areas but be prepared for a few people passing by & possibly asking for a bite of food!

Not long at all, maybe ten or fifteen minutes. It's not really a trail, just a set of steps up to the top from the parking area. It's absolutely worth doing, though, because its the best view in Austin.
