I was lucky that my guide was a local and we spent some time right by the ridge overlooking the late. I can't think of anywhere else better to visit in Austin. Simply breath-taking. The climb is also not too crazy or physical.

Enjoy one of Austin's highlights, both tourists and locals love to visit this site. Killer views of Lake Austin in both directions along with brilliant sunsets make the trip up the long set of steps worthwhile. Not for the faint of heart, but not that strenuous. Mount Bonnell has been a favorite for centuries. Please don't throw anything off the... More

This place is very simple yet so bold. You are faced with lot's of steps. They are not steep and there of course is a rail to use in the middle. Because it is a mountain you have stone/brick you can have a seat on along the way up if you face any health issues. I enjoy the view at... More

This has to be the best view in Austin as it must be the highest point in Austin. You can look out at the city and also look down onto the lake and see amazing houses right on the water. Not ADA accessible

I always bring out of town guests here. The drive is scenic and once at top of mount bonnell, the scenery is breathe taking. Its a free attraction that you can spend hours just relaxing. There is no shade but they have tables if you wanted to have a picnic.

For a chubby lady like me it was exhausting. The view is pretty and the mansions are extravagant. There was a LOT of dog poo on the rocks up top and a few unsteady drop offs. I wouldn't recommend for young kids. Ages 8 and up.

I love going up Mt Bonnell in the Spring since the Mt Laurels are in bloom are amazingly fragrant! parking is a bit dangerous so watch out for oncoming traffic. Wear sunscreen and bring water. Be sure to go up or down both sides since the views are different. Going down to the right if you are facing the lake,... More

Good view of the river and sort of view of downtown. Oddly in the middle of a neighborhood and a bit of a trek up some uneven steps to the top. I would wear hiking clothes and shoes and visit on a cloudy day.

Mount Bonnell is a must see for any Austin visitor. It is an easy work/climb and the views on downtown and the river are outstanding. Our visit was messed up by a group doing a marriage proposal thing and they put up a big banner that blocked some of the better views. It doesn't deter the enjoyment too much and... More
