This museum is divided into art periods and has a nice collection within each period. But, it is relatively small and nothing to our way of thinking really stands out. If you have some free time in Austin to while away you may consider this.

Located on the UT campus, this place is for the most part easy to get to. There is a parking garage nearby for your car and the walk to the museum is only a few minutes. This two story building features several styles of artwork. There are sections which focus on religion, late 1700's to 1800's, Greek statues, and rotating... More

Lovely building with large section devoted to more modern, abstract art which was very interesting. Good representation of Latin/Mexican art.

Staff was friendly and helpful, price was reasonable and the type of art that I was looking for was definitely available. Parking is available across the street for decent price. First 30 min is free and then $3 every hour.

The Blanton is a very nice art museum. It's on the smaller side which makes it easy to see everything. There are contemporary, modern, European and Latin American art rooms. Also a few other smaller ones. Do stop in and spend some time here, you won't be disappointed.

A very pleasant way to spend a couple of hours mid day. Thank you for the free entry for active duty military and teachers. Not well posted so look for it. The Latin American permanent exhibit is particularly interesting. Both my daughter and I really enjoyed the Curiouser exhibit (through June). The photographs of book titles arranged as riddles and... The current exhibit, Curiosities, is so engaging. Parts are funny, parts are just interesting. I enjoyed the permanent exhibits, especially the lobby walls, and hanging installation.

We loved the exhibit by Nina Katchadourian, the video of the blind men meeting the elephant, all the little school kids enjoying art, the big South American colonial Madonna, the square pit filed with pennies and much more. A great visit.

Very convenient location to Bullock State museum, the capitol and the University. Well curated as most of the pieces and artists are lesser known. Moderately priced and since it took a smaller amount of time to see means it becomes worthwhile.
