    Worth a visit
It's a nice museum in a lovely architectural setting; lot of pieces but small for a major museum so easy to see everything. The temporary show called Day Jobs was excellent - clever idea, very engaging to see the bios and thoughts of the artists who toiled by day at somewhat dreary jobs. The museum also has old European style paintings which I'm less interested in, but there was some of everything so I'd say it's worth a visit. The "Austin" building by Ellsworth Kelly is closed for renovation.

    Great Art Museum
When we went, we went on a Tuesday! At the time we went, Tuesdays were FREE! It was a great art museum to visit with plenty of different kinds of art from all different eras. We enjoyed walking around! We parked in a parking garage right across from the art museum which was safe for us and within a short walk from the museum!
Thank you so much for your review! I'm so glad you enjoyed your visit, hopefully we'll see you again soon! -Lindsey, VVS

Wonderful art - and Tuesdays are free.
Went on a Tuesday with three granddaughters, ages 4, 6, and 7, along with their mother and my wife. Tuesdays are Free, which was nice. The granddaughters each took a sketching pad and occasionally would sit down and sketch. It kept them interested and well-behaved. The art is great. One of my favorite pieces was the painting "Oil Field Girls" by Jerry Bywaters. Parked right across the street in the Brazos Garage.
Thank you for your kind words! Connecting with art is so valuable for children and adults alike; I'm so glad you and your family enjoyed the visit. -Lindsey, VVS

    Adult Museum
Trip to visit son. Daughter was my travel-mate. She booked the tickets online. We went on our last day which was a Saturday. Spent about 75 minutes there because we had to get to the airport for the flight home. Museum has a wonderful collection and the staff is very nice. We parked on the street because the parking garage was filling up due to sporting event at Texas U.
Thank you for your review! I'm so happy to hear that your quick visit was a pleasant one. We look forward to seeing you again the next time you're in town! -Lindsey, VVS

The Ellsworth Kelly building is really worth a visit in itself.
This is a lovely museum with quite a range of art. We were able to be there to see the exhibition of Maya art called "Forces of Nature." But what we really liked was the outdoor sculpture and the Ellsworth Kelly building.
Thank you for your review! Glad you got to see the Kelly on such a sunny day, it really is the best. Please visit us again! -Aiden, Visitor Services

    Nice, manageable museum
This is a manageable size of museum. We focused on the special exhibitions and the American art; we have seen more than enough European and religious art. Be sure to visit the Ellsworth Kelly building on site. They also have a very nice gift shop. There is parking at the Brazos garage across the street.
Thanks for visiting us! And thank you for the review! Glad to hear you enjoyed your time here.

This is a great museum on the UT campus. I visited on a grey day but Ellsworth Kelly building was still beautiful. I enjoyed the permanent and rotating exhibits. Well worth a visit.

I was excited to see what they had in the European art section. I want to start with the fact that I have been to many museums in my life. I grew up in the DC area and loved to visit the museums there. I have been to the large museums in Florence, Italy. etc. etc. I love going to museums. It is usually a very peaceful and fun experience.

I have never experienced what I experienced at this museum. The staff in the European art section was overbearing. Being followed and yelled at for pointing out beautiful details in the art is not a fun experience.

I checked out some of the other reviews and this seems to be common there. I won’t be going back here.

The museum is full of beautiful art: paintings of all types from various eras.
Many themes are also presented that show diversity, artist expressing feelings regarding oppression, inequalities, injustices or political themes of a time period. Art pieces conveyed messages, was very introspective, had ingenuity, evoked many emotions, provided lots of learning & very thought-provoking.
