We visited here and saw many names that we recognized. So many gave their lives for the great State of Texas. It was June so it is pretty warm to be walking around midday but not unbearable. There are lots of shady spots in the...More

Beautifully kept and landscaped. It's fascinating to find the graves of so many famous Texans in one place. A tour with guide adds so much information about its formation, the layout, who is there and why.

My husband is an Army veteran so we had to stop here to pay respects to Chris Kyle. This cemetery is so beautiful and peaceful. The only disappointing thing is we visited Kyle's grave the day before the permanent monument was erected. :(

An extremely interesting historical cemetery where many of the people who made Texas what it is are laid to rest. Take a walking tour through the well-kept, beautiful grounds; it's like a history lesson. Each of the tombstones tells a brief story of life’s triumphs...More

I hope everyone would get a chance to visit here. This is a special place rich in Texas history. The grounds are beautiful. You can stop by and say hi to Chris Kyle ( American sniper) while you are there, think he would appreciate that.

Commune with Texas history. Stephen F. Austin, Barbara Jordon, and so many other great Texans. It is a peaceful memorial park in East Austin that pays respect to many of those who built Texas and its unique culture.

The cemetery wasn't on our list of things to do. We drove by it after our Sunday brunch and a walk felt like the right thing to do. I love cemeteries and the history they carry. The Texas State Cemetery holds many dignitaries and many...More

Yes parking is available inside the cemetery but it gets crowded sometimes. Best to Park outside and walk in. Get to see more that way. Well worth the walk.
