I'm always cold, but I love to swim and this place is a lot of fun. But as others have mentioned the water is cold. Don't be afraid to put on your wetsuit and swim a few laps as if you're training for a triathlon. Beautiful, fun place to visit. Off season it's free.

This place was so beautiful!!! I love that you are in a city but have access to water and trails for walking, biking, running, paddle boarding, kayaking, etc. A great place to relax, you could stay for a couple hours or spend the day. The water is about 68 degrees F all year around. We went in November and people... More

Pretty cool location, pretty awesome how they made this a pretty solid asset to the area. Water was a little chilly for us but we enjoyed the area and scenery

We went to the pool just to see it on a chilly November day. The good news was: 1) It was NOT crowded, and 2)It was free. The bad news was: It was freezing. The water is quite cold, as it is spring fed. Only a few brave souls were swimming. The pool is a natural habitat, aka, a "swimming... More

We love this place! We walked leisurely around and near the river. Very fun to watch people hanging with their dogs, or fishing, or swimming in the pool. Tons of fish and turtles! We rented kayaks and spent a good 1 1/2 hr kayaking, my son going in and out of the kayak to take a refreshing dip. We had... More

It turns out that September on Austin is hot!! We couldn't get cool so off we went down to Barton Springs to get cold. We spent about 5 hours here sunbathing and dipping into the divinely cold pool. It's quiet (in the week) and there's grass for lolling about. Take a book. The toilets and showers were clean too

It was fun to do but very crowded. The changing rooms were hard to use. Also, just know the water is cold and you need to be a swimmer to comfortably use the pool.

The park is lovely. The pool is very nice but the water s really cold. That doesn't bother most people.

This natural outdoor public pool stays 65-70 degrees year round, has a beautiful surrounding and simply must be done. Great diving board. We swam on a "cool" Austin day and had a blast. The outdoor changing rooms were really a unique experience for someone from the Northwest.

I think, because of it's uniqueness, it's a must visit. And I was told by one of the lifeguards it's open year round except that it closes ever Thursday. Also, if it's out of your comfort zone, I think you should push yourself to take the plunge. Just different!
