When people tell you that Barton Springs is really cold, they're not exaggerating. Take the coldest shower you've ever had, in the dead of winter, in the mountains, and multiply that by 10.
Aside from the cold, if you can get...More
Stopped by on a nice Saturday (mid 70’s) recently. Not crowded at all, water was cold but a few people were swimming. Nice place to just relax, dip the feet and read a book. Worth a stop if you like being outdoors.
This was a great spot after hiking the Barton springs trails to be able to go cool off at if you go be prepared the waters feel like they're at least in the 50s so the water is super cold but it's also super clear...More

Went here for the fourth time. I always go when it is seriously hot because the water is seriously cold. This is not the kind of water you can chill in for hours. If you like it super cold this is the place for you.
This place is a great stop to make even if you don't plan to swim. The pool is gorgeous and a walk around it is worth taking in while visiting Zilker park. It was too cool for our liking to swim the day we visited,...More
I live within walking distance to Barton Springs Pool and have been there many times, but only once in the pool. I had friends in town and they were game to go for a swim in November 2017. It was so cool...loved it.

NO food. NO alcohol. NO smoking. ONLY water. Take RIDESHARE. Parking is very limited. Respect the staff they are there to save your life. People drown at this pool. RESPECT THE STAFF. The reason for no food or sugary drinks is because of a battle with fire ants which the pool may be losing because so many people sneak food/drinks in. With the explosion of tourists and new residents the pool is struggling. Locals really hate folks who don’t adhere to these rules. There is always trash left over and that is heartbreaking to see a crushed can or spilled candy covered in ants. Residents love this pool and fiercly protect it. There are rats that like those salty pretzels and that brings snakes. And, get stung by fire ants and you or your babies day is ruined. It’s a life cycle. Get a stamp and have a picnic outside the gates. You can go in and out all day so why break the rules and risk getting thrown out? Buy a JIM JIM’S snow cone and there are food trucks to get pizza or empanadas just outside the gates. Lots of restaurantswithin walking distance.
