If it's in Texas, it must be bigger and better. That is the motto that architects followed with the Capitol Building in Austin. At one time, it was the tallest capitol building in the nation. Others might be taller now, but this is still a beautiful building that shows off many of the natural resources which are so prevalent in Texas, such as limestone and the landscapes.

A must see when you visit the capitol of Texas, Austin. A beautiful building with a great history. Inside you will learn about the state and it's leaders and when you stay below the huge dome in the center of the building look up.

Plenty to see (and free!) at the Texas state capitol. Easy (inexpensive) parking nearby! Check out the Texas House and Senate chambers along with some majestic/historic paintings like the Alama & Jacinto.

Sorry Elizabeth, but I was in Dubai, UAE when you submitted the question. The #37 bus would have taken you from your location to 8th & Guadalupe. Only a few blocks from the Capitol.
