Wherever we visit, we always look for an arboretum or botanical garden. I have been to gardens in Shanghai, Suzhou, Tokyo as well as many cities here in the US. This one in Zilker Park is not to be missed. The trails are well designed and offer a very private glimpse to the many themes in this garden. Zilker Park... More

zilker park is our families best spot to chill when we are bored and can't drive long hours. It has a dinoseur park which is just fabulous. It has the Japanese garden - extremely well kept. And lot of hands on activities for kids. don't get me wrong, - every age would enjoy this park.

Love the variety of things to do in the Zilker/Barton Springs area of Austin. Trees, jogging paths, mini train, botanical gardens, spring-fed pool, soccer fields, Austin area events-- even though Austin has lessened the broad scope of family activities that I raised my kids doing.

Wonderful to visit year round, seasonally. The park is always changing. There are numerous trails and exhibits to see. In the spring, be sure to visit the big garden show.

We like to go to Zilker so the kids can ride the train around the park, to walk around, to swim in the best pool in the city, to enjoy fabulous musicals, or to just enjoy the sights.

Amazing oasis in the middle of town, right near downtown. Even though heavily developed all around I like to think of this as a mini Central Park. Swim in the ice cold springs, sunbathe on the grassy hill, ride the mini train, play on the awesome playscape, frisbee golf, Zilker Summer Musical theater, picnic and hiking trails go off to... Zilker metropolitan park is a vast and excellent lung area right in downtown Austin. Abundant open spaces with a healthy grass cover, wide walkways and shady trees along the boundary offer an excellent picnic spot for people from all age groups. Parking space was abundant, and amenities, while basic, were maintained well. The quaint, toy train track is a charming... More

We visited the Zilker Botanical Park and enjoyed it very much. Even though it was July, there was enough shade along the path to make it very pleasant. Enjoyed the historical part of the park as well as the beautiful gardens. It was free except for a minimal fee parking. Fortunately, there was lots of parking available.
