Went here for the first time last weekend with my daughter and her pups....it is a HUGE, lovely park with lots of room to walk, stroll, run with dogs, or just sit and enjoy the gorgeous city views.

This is a great park to take your dog to. There is lots of space to play and your right on the water when it's time for the dog to cool off! I'll be back here for sure!

Loved the train. Pool was closed for cleaning, but it was too cool to swim outdoors in any case. Lots of different activities available. In the past I've attended concerts at Zilker and it's a wonderful venue.

We visited on a day when there was a garden festival so the traffic was terrible. I think the park is always very busy, so maybe the traffic wasn't unusual. We didn't have a lot of time, but took a short walk on a trail...More

Great place to take your dog and friends. We walked around, did some pullups on the trees, and hung out under the trees.

Zilker Metropolitan is by far the best park I have visited in the Austin area. All major city outdoor events takes place in Zilker. It also is the home to the Barton Springs pool which is the only natural reservoir springs pool in Austin. Zilker...More

Driving by it always seems like there is a lot going on. I have been to a theater production there at night and the place was pretty crowded.
Could someone give me feedback if this HUGE park is a good place for children under five? Besides the train ride are the swings, slides etc or just water, hiking etc? Any suggestions of other places to take five yr old and under? We are coming for the races next weekend so us gals will want someplace to take the kiddos while the guys take in F1 races. Thanks for any input friends of Tripadvisor!

No. There is no tent camping at that park. But there are in other parks in the area that have tent camping.
