This is a great place to find out about the history of the area. Its also nice and climate controlled if its too hot outside. They have nice restrooms and water fountains.

Small but gives a great overview of many aspects of the Big Bend park and area. The building itself is beautiful too. We visited after we had been in the park, but it would be great to do beforehand.

Nice stop before visiting the park. The exhibits are very well done. The museum is small but gives a great history of the area. We spent just under an hour here.

Well worth the time. The exhibits trace the history of the area from dinosaurs through the development of the State. It is located on the campus of the Sul Ross University which is nice to see as well.

I had already seen good reviews of Museum of the Big Bend but was still pleasantly surprised to experience the exhibits first hand. From the outside you can't really tell how big a space the museum is - it's a fair size but I think they really did a great job laying out their exhibits to walk you through the... More

(Warning: young adults from Central Florida in for vacation) After a great week at BBNP, we entered a rainy weekend in Alpine. The Museum was indoors, nearby, and free (donations welcome)… yet it far exceeded our expectations of just another way to escape the rain. EXHIBITS COVER EVERY SURFACE The museum itself is probably just a little larger than a... More

Nice museum in this great town. Very interesting displays showing the history of the region. The museum should not take over an hour to,see, everything. Go downstairs to view the old maps. This is definitely worth the stop.

We loved this museum once we found it on campus-- we walked in with a staff member who said, "People say that all the time-- I keep asking for better signage!" Even we you find the building-- finding the front door is another challenge but once you get inside it is GREAT. We thought we'd spend about 30 minutes looking... More

This is a small, well done museum that really sets the stage for the history and geology of the Big Bend of Texas. Stop here before you go to the park!!!
