So pleased to visit Kid Venture playground and note they have put up a gate on both the Toddler and the Main playgrounds. I am in my 70's and just couldnt keep ahead of my 2 & 3 year old greatgrandsons when they'd head towards the pond! I dont have to worry about chasing them down now. Kid Venture has been greatly improved. I would love to see the picture of the old yellow swing removed that I posted some time ago. New swings have been added, the ducks cant get in and the toddlers can get out now. Not sure who to thank, the City of Anderson, Parks & Recreation, but we now have a safe clean playground of which we can be proud!

I am a mom of 4 little guys. oldest 7..twins 4..and youngest 3. I am planning summer trips..trying to that is. I have heard this place is an awesome place...however it's been several years since my friend had been there. I would like for anyone who knows...has the upkeep ground work been doing? Is this a safe environment? I do thank anyone in advance for helping me make this decision to go. thank you kindly!

This playground was awesome in it's hayday. It's built with exploration in mind. There are many nooks and crannies for children to explore. With that said, there are many nooks and crannies for people to hide in. The structure is so huge, unless you are on their heels, it's hard to keep sight of your child. There have been several attacks on preteens by adults hiding in the shadows. I don't take my kids here anymore. It's just become creepy.
The playground is in disrepair. Some slides are closed. My 4 year old niece went down a slide and bumped her head. It knocked her out and she ended up in the ER with several stitches. There are nails and splintered wood to look out for.
If you choose to take your kids, please walk through with them and be aware of their surroundings. Also be aware that there is a separate entrance from the back of the area.

What was once a wonderful place for local kids to play is becoming a hazard. On our last visit we saw holes in the fence where the Ducks can enter the playground; a broken tire swing and missing pieces from their obstacle course. I am afraid that a child will be hurt if the condition is not remedied. Wake up Anderdon, the kids deserve better!

I was excited to bring my kids here after reading the reviews on here. Unfortunately, this playground has seen better days. It looks like it was awesome when it was new, but has numerous broken pieces and a few of the areas are somewhat of a hazard. We drove 40 mins to visit while on a trip to Lake Hartwell. We will not return. It's a shame this hasn't been maintained better.

Kid Venture Playground is located at the corner of Camson road & Jim Ed Rice Parkway, and is part of the Anderson Sports and entertainment center.
To the best of my knowledge, it is open all year. But I have included the web site link with general information and rules for your convenience.
Besides the best playground in the upstate of South Carolina, there is also a ball field for soccer, baseball and other activities. ASEC is also great for picnics and parties. There are several gazebos that people use for kids birthdays- but keep in mind, they are 1st come 1st served only.
There is also a beautiful pond for fishing or feeding the many ducks, walking trials and many more.
The area is also used for scheduled league baseball and softball games. So there's plenty to do for kids and parents of all ages. Not to mention it's right next store to the Anderson Civic center.
So whether you like spending time with the kids, taking a walk or run. Or even flying a kite and enjoying the great out doors. It's one of the best places to be in the Anderson area.
And while you're here, take a look at the 9 pictures I have included. And if this post has helped you, I would appreciate your vote.
Thanks!!!

It was a great play area but it is falling apart now. Nails sticking out, the two big slides are boarded up, swings are broken. It was not a good experience.

They have let the teenagers absolutely take over this place! PARENTS: take a walk around the inside of the structure before you let your kids play, especially young ones. Not only is there vulgar graffiti, some parts of the equipment have been destroyed to the point of being very UNSAFE. Half of the original structure on the outside is now missing due to teenagers breaking things and the city of Anderson does nothing to replace or repair it.

This park was incredible when it was first built, it's such a shame to see them refusing to keep it up. Our mayor actually said its not the adults responsibility to provide things for children to do. What a load of horse manure!!!!

My boyfriend's family lives in Anderson and we are frequent visitors. Conveniently located and easy to find-my children LOVE this playground. Unlike any other we've been to-it is a medieval theme-and I can honestly say it is HUGE! It is a large castle with "secret" passages that meander and lead all over. There is a play area for smaller children also. Ropes for climbing, tires swings tucked down into a nook, things for hanging from, jumping off of, climbing on-it really is a terrific place to play. Just when you think you have seen all of it, you go thru another opening and it just goes on and on. There is a covered picnic area with tables and benches that make for a nice play for parents to sit. The adjacent pond makes it easy to feed the ducks and a bathroom just a short walk makes it desireable. With twins who are almost 5, I am always looking for good places to play that have restrooms that are open, as frequent trips to the potty are inevitable with little ones about. We went in the morning one day during our last visit in July and it was nice, even in the heat of the day. There is some shade in addition to the picnic shelter. My children constantly ask when we are going back to the castle.
