It's honestly so cute. I live near here and i love to go see the fish and watch them grow. They house trout and relase them when they're old enough. You can buy a small or large bag of fish food, too! Small is .50 cents and a large bag is $1.

This is a great day trip for you & younger kids and older. You can buy fish food and walk around and feed the fish. Nice outdoor area to spend some time in the fresh air. Near Leigh High Valley hospital. Indian Pow Wow held down the street in the Spring. Must go to see! So nice and historic! Beautiful area.

It’s free and fun, especially for little kids. Bags of fish food are cheap and fun for everybody to feed. Kids especially get a kick out of seeing all of the fish swarm around. Also is adjacent to some other walking pathways, so is a nice area to get some exercise.

This was kid's favorite part of our trip. The vending machine took our money (the house wasn't open) but nice workers helped us by giving us a bag of fish food plus another one. Kid enjoyed feeding the fish and watching them splash at the surface. Nice and enjoyable, and free. Definitely recommended, definitely would come back here again.

The hatchery is on a beautiful piece of land. It has some great landscaping as well. It was amazing how many fish were there. For a small fee(I think $2) we were able to purchase a bag of food and feed the fish. It is not a place where you will spend all day, but if you are looking for a cheap hour or two, this is the place to be. Even my (almost) teenage daughter enjoyed it.

This was a little disappointing. I thought there would be more pools and different fish. The signage was good, it did explain a lot; however there really was not much to see.

I brought my 2.5 year old and for $2 in fish food she spent over 2 hours running around and throwing the fish some food. She loved it, I loved it, she slept great too! It was very clean and you could probably bring a little picnic there. Great cheap little spot for the family.

As a lifetime fisherman it is a real treat to see where the trout that are stocked in Pennsylvania streams are bred and raised. You can even buy some fish food and feed them which is quite fun. Is very easy to find and less than two miles off of the Cedar Crest Exit of Interstate 78. Head south on Cedar Crest Blvd to a left onto Fish Hatchery Road. Down the road about 1/4 mile is parking for the fish hatchery. Plan about two hours, but take more time and stroll along a beautiful stream which passes right past the Hatchery. The grounds are fairly level and easy to walk and I imagine that they are wheel chair accessible.

Hay que pagar un costo por entrada, y en caso de ser asi, cuanto es?

I'm running a bus trip to Jim Thorpe and thought we'd stop here along the way. How much time would be needed to see the fish? Is it far from the highway? Can buses access? Thanks
Written 18 May 2018
The parking lot close to the fish is fine for cars but I would not bring a bus in there, not enough turning radius. I'd allow 45 mins there to see the fish and walk around a little bit.

You can buy fish food to feed the fish there that are in the holding areas/pools. No bait is sold there that I am aware of. This is a place for kids and adults to see the fish and read information about them. The fish in turn are used to stock the rivers. The cycle of life.

Hi all, Great Place! Last time I was there I bought a bag of fish food for $1 and it was moree than enough for a couple of days. Anyway bags are only $1, $2 or $3 dollars and are quite large. You need to buy the bags at the small house in the rear and also has Plenty of stuffed Mammals and fish.

Can you buy bulk fish food to take home to feed pond fish?
Written 12 July 2016
I am sure you can buy bulk food at various stores locally to your area if the hatchery cannot.
Also, look at koi pond websites, they have a multitude of options.

I have seen people there with dogs (about 2 years ago) and I don't recall a sign saying no dogs. It is a pretty serene, easy going place so I can't imagine any of the volunteers would give you a hard time either way actually.
