You don't need to head to England to experience the genius of a Shakespearean play. Much closer to home is the Oregon Shakespeare Festival located in Ashland, Oregon. Every year at the end of October you can enjoy on average over ten of Shakespeare's plays performed in both classic and newly imagined style. Separate tickets are needed for each show which is held at one of the event campus's two indoor or one outdoor spaces.

First trip to OSF. A very good experience! Second time for "Woods". Much better the second time around (1st was a production at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre). Had a hard time with "The Tempest" and sorry we did not have time for "Cocoanuts".

The Elizabethan Theater is awesome. Had a wonderful experience. We saw Two Gentleman of Verona with an all female cast. A little gimmicky but well acted. It's highly recommended.

We loved this presentation of The Tempest: imaginative, funny, and inventive. The incorporation of Japanese dramatic art certainly added interest.

Mark Bedard is amazing as Groucho Marx's character Mr. Hammer. This show is Broadway quality. There are maybe 300 one-liners. Some dated, some updated, all of them funny. Improvisation, singing, dancing, costumes, this was a great time!

My son saw The Tempest and The cocoanuts earlier in the season, and we went together to see Richard III and Into the Woods. Great shows, great actors, and didn't look like there could be a bad seat in the outdoor theater. Will go back again!

This was our first time attending after hearing about it from friends for years. We were impressed, of course, by the productions in every respect, but also pleasantly surprised by the hospitality of the staff in the box office, the grounds and within the theater facilities. We were in town early in they day and scouted the area for parking... More

Ashland's Allen Elizabethan Theatre transports the play-goer back to the Globe in England. This outdoor theater has both an intimate feel and the beautiful Oregon night as a wonderful canopy. The plays are remarkably entertaining - top notch, professional performances. This experience is worth the price of admission.

The OSF has broadened its choices over the years. My wife and I saw three shows in two days in Ashland and none were written by Shakespeare. The Great Society was phenomenally good -- a three-act, three-hour, two-intermission show that just flew by. Superb performances and a good script. The Cocoanuts was very, VERY funny. The actors had me believing... More

The outdoor Shakespeare festival is in a wonderfully modern "old Globe" theater. Not a bad seat in the house. In August it was comfortable without a sweater, but you may need one later in the year.

Always a great experience. Yes, usually one play we do not enjoy, but OSF has a high batting average with us. Enjoy the town, and Plaza hotel.
