You don't need to head to England to experience the genius of a Shakespearean play. Much closer to home is the Oregon Shakespeare Festival located in Ashland, Oregon. Every year at the end of October you can enjoy on average over ten of Shakespeare's plays performed in both classic and newly imagined style. Separate tickets are needed for each show which is held at one of the event campus's two indoor or one outdoor spaces.

The acting, the artistic design, the directing, the quality - CONSISTANTLY, OVERWHELMINGLY ASTOUNDING! EVERY SHOW seems to rival Broadway. I've seen numerous production in both locations. Some OSF shows are BETTER than shows in NYC! Having only been going for 5 years, it gnaws at me that I've missed SO MANY undoubtedly BRILLIANT productions.

Hmmm... before coming to Ashland this year, I would have never thought that I would give this festival a rating of two stars. I've been here in the 1980's several times, and have thoroughly enjoyed each of those visits, highlighted with superb theater performances. This time, though, after 25+ years since my last visit, I'm sad to say that the... More

Sone tie ago, I drove from San Francisco to Ashland to hear the OSF's rendition of my favorite play, "Hamlet." I've heard the play at many venues, the best of which were, surprisingly, local amateur community theater companies. Sadly, OSF's players succumbed to the temptation to mug to the audience and scream their lines, "split[ting] the ears of the groundlings"... More

One can really understand the words and nuances of that fabulous playwright. The sets are often unusual, as is the setting, but the Bards meaning comes through.

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) is a national institution. Aside from expert productions of the Bard's plays there are numerous other performances. The Globe Theater gives the ultimate outdoor experience.

This is one of our favorite trips we make every year. I have been attending the Shakespeare Festival on and off for 20 years. I have come to appreciate the wonderful choice of plays more and more each year, the exceptionally talented actors, and all the work that goes into making these plays from the stage crews, costume designers, the... OSF continually pushes the envelope in portraying important social and cultural issues with compassion and grace. Their Broadway-quality performances stimulate, educate and delightfully entertain. Their creative Shakespeare productions stay true to dialogue while delightfully contemporizing the setting. Their premier and modern plays by award winning playwrights are poignant and inspiring.

My fiancee and I went to see ROE with my cohort. It was amazing! Living in Medford we knew we would be able to take advantage of the amazing theater in Ashland. We were skeptical as the show was about ROE V. Wade (abortion case) but had us laughing, smiling, crying and feeling so many emotions. All of the actors... More

We've been attending OSF off & on for the last 15 years & have been noticing a decline in Ashland. This year we arrived on 10/21/16 with tickets to 4 plays. In the play Timon, most of the acting was great, but the overly-sexualized visuals were unnecessary & offensive to some of the audience, as they left during intermission. Also,... More

My wife and I saw Timon, our first Shakespeare play. Wow! We had a great time and were greatly entertained. 2 hours of wonderment.
