This museum was formed a long time ago and consists of a busts that idealize and honor various Native leaders. While there are leaders from every region, the vast majority are from Oklahoma and the majority within that are from the Southern Plains peoples. The museum is outdoors and is free. I probably would have walked around it fairly quickly,... More

There was no guide or assistant in the visitor's center during our visit, which was unfortunate. A visitor doesn't need help understanding the sculptures and where to proceed, however. The busts were by various sculptors, which enhanced the experience. The plaques were informative, although one must step off the path to read them. (We wondered if there was a brochure... More

My partner and I had often thought of getting side-tracked to Anadarko during one of our semi-annual trips to Ok and this time we finally made it. It's populated primarily by people of the Kiowa, Comanche, Cheyenne and other Southwestern Indian nations.
